So this sucks, but I might've figured it out. On your phone, go to: Settings/Display & Brightness. Then turn Display & Brightness from Light to Dark. The problem is that it then makes that the display on all the apps and such on your home screen. So all of those have a black bacground.

OK, way off topic query for those more tech-savvy than me: Can you no longer have dark background on X on your phone? My X account is now stuck on the white background, switching overnight from the dark background. Normally, I'd go into Settings/Accessibility/Display, and change it. But now, Display is only letting me change font size and color. That's it. Any way to fix this?
