@ASBOTeacher I fear many practitioners moan instead of improving their classroom relationships (which would make behaviour perfect). I help my staff to have truly individual relationships, unencumbered by me. Sure, I give the odd assembly, but on school corridors you won’t see me for dust.

In today’s dark times what we all need is a man pretending to be a woman, falling on his ass and losing his wig in Macdonalds. I’m happy with that. The only thing you can legitimately argue with is that it *might* not be a Macdonalds.

Walker Smith, 54, who has worked as a store assistant at Waitrose for the past 17 years, has been fired for trying to stop a shoplifter. This is the damning series of events that took place at Waitrose’s Clapham Junction branch: a customer alerted Smith to a thief filling a bag with Lindt chocolate eggs (£13 a pop). ✍️ Ameer Kotecha Article | spectator.com/article/this-i…

The sacking of a Waitrose worker for tackling a shoplifter is insane. In mad modern Britain it’s riskier to stop a criminal than to be a criminal. Our cowardly elites have given a green light to crime. It’s a recipe for social chaos, says Brendan O’Neill buff.ly/lylensH

Waitrose have literally released the most stupid statement ever @waitrose basically saying shoplift what you like - no body will stop you - fill your boots…. Staff won’t stop you….Absolutely mental, can’t believe what I’ve just read.

“To me, he’s a hero. To them, he’s nothing.” After a Waitrose employee of 17 years was reportedly sacked for stopping a shoplifter from stealing Easter eggs, @IainDale says it’s no wonder that the UK has a 'shoplifting crisis of epidemic proportions'.

Some basic principles of humanity have eluded Waitrose here. A pity that they hadn’t remembered the words of the Duke, from Shakespeare’ Measure for Measure (Act 1 Sc1): “Your scope is as mine own, So to enforce the quality of the (rules) As to your soul seems good”.

This is a symbol of what is wrong with soft-on-crime Britain. A veteran Waitrose worker has been sacked after tackling a shoplifter who was trying to steal luxury Easter eggs. Britain puts shoplifters ahead of the decent, law-abiding majority. Waitrose should be ashamed.

SACKED after 17 years… for stopping a thief. A Waitrose worker in Clapham Junction has lost his job after intervening to stop someone stealing Easter eggs. Walker Smith, 54, had given 17 years of service only to be shown the door for trying to do the right thing. No warning. No loyalty. Just gone. What message does that send to staff and to every other would be shoplifter wanting an easy target. Do your job… but don’t actually protect the business. Waitrose have ABSOLUTELY no loyalty to their staff they are quite happy to dispense of Loyal partners like yesterdays rubbish.

@ThomasWillett9 Yes because there is no more danger posed to a female boxer being pitted against a bearded and muscular six-footer as there is to a male boxer being told he’ll face woman with less than half his strength. Both exactly the same. Consistency, as you say. 👍

@NadiaWhittomeMP So how do we widen the definition of women? I know! Let’s define women by social roles (aka regressive sexist stereotypes). Yes, that’s really progressive. (Or alternatively, just bin the stereotypes, define women by biology and affirm that biology doesn’t define their roles).

Efforts to narrow the definition of womanhood, police people’s gender expression, and reduce people to their biology don't protect women - they harm us. Attacks on trans rights should never be done in our name. We must stand in solidarity with our trans siblings.
