Also striking, from outside, is Birmingham’s complete absence from any sort of national cultural relevance: no literature to speak of, no notable music for half a century. Edinburgh, or Liverpool, or Bristol or Belfast or Newcastle or Glasgow all have specific cultural resonances, but the second city may as well not exist.



Yesterday, Youtube's animated logo (aka "Yoodle") celebrated indie animation. This little animation was made by @Worthikids. And it redirected to a playlist, different for each country, and with different animations (see links in comments).
