For my birthday yesterday my family, some friends and I watched CARLITO’S WAY at the @DrafthouseLA. What a phenomenal film to see again on the big screen. Nobody directs like De Palma. The ending has my favorite foot chase in film history.

@ChrisHewitt I was a Jackie Chan fan (and got to meet him when I worked at the BFI) and used to watch all night Hong Kong cinema in Camden. That’s what got me into Woo’s Heroic Bloodshed films. There used to be a video store nearby dedicated to HK cinema.

Absolutely gutted by the loss of Sam Neill. What an actor he was, and I was blessed over the years to interview him a bunch, and discover what a lovely guy he was in real life too. First person I ever interviewed for Empire. Was on a Zoom with him a few weeks ago too.
