missing Fable 5 so much not even talking about coding it was just so much smarter at ingesting data, writing files, and connecting things Opus is ok at these things (honestly, much better than GPT-5.5), but Fable was on another level while it was around, I've processed 15+ hours of video, YouTube competitors, screen frames and thumbnails, patterns and anti-patterns it was the first model that really made me feel like I can trust it with knowing what I want, how to store it reliably the more I analyze the work that this model has produced for me, the more I realize that Fable was the first model that has a better understanding of how AI works and that resulted in it creating files and prompts that are dramatically better than anything any other model would produce hope it comes back soon because it feels like we went backwards bad

@scaling01 What the fuck are you talking about? Anthropic signed a deal with the NSA that OpenAI did not agree to because of surveillance red lines.

the admin says whatever suits them, because they are used to no consequences they don't like Anthropic because they actually have a spine and will stand up to them unlike OpenAI who takes any bone the admin throws them Greggy being the 2nd largest Trump admin supporter also totally doesn't have anything to do with it
Lisan al Gaib@scaling01

yeah really tough decision who to believe > the adminstration that supports pedophiles, nazis, genocide and insider trading > or the guy with a PhD from Princeton who built AGI if you believe a single word the Trump admin says you really have 0 cogsec

I wonder what Elon thinks about all this. If he is now a major compute provider for Anthropic, this whole Fable mess suddenly matters a lot more. Geo restrictions, backlash, usage limits, safety fallbacks, angry builders. That compute deal probably looked like a beautiful cash cow. But if Anthropic fumbles trust and access, that cash cow could dry up very fast.

Anthropic has pushed AI forward dramatically over the past two years. It's currently the crown jewel of US AI tech. The Feds don't like @DarioAmodei because he won't do all their bidding. And so, we've now entering the Soviet-style propaganda portion of the program with the White House feeding every reporter it can find with laughable claims like Dario is unreachable at a wellness retreat. Come on. I'd hoped the US would not be self-defeating on AI, since it's kinda one of the last hopes the US has versus China. But here we are . . . . already

@ashleevance Stop spreading propaganda and start doing a journalism like you're supposed to do. Chinese hackers were reselling these queries. You can literally find the Discords on Twitter where not just Fable but Mythos queries were leaking to.

I wonder how much money anthropic is losing every day they don't have fable available. Probably a lot. I'm beginning to actually feel sorry for them..

Sorry this is stupid. Anthropic and OpenAI are the Ford and GM of our time. America should want them both to prosper, and we should be proud of both. It would be nice if the one party that doesn’t hate AI because it creates wealth were not also captive and nakedly corrupt.
Pete Hegseth@PeteHegseth

Three months ago, @DeptofWar kicked @AnthropicAI out of our building—forever. Every passing day proves why that was the right move. 🇺🇸

Not once have I heard this man say a nice word about Anthropic or Dario
David Sacks@DavidSacks

I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.
