@kfixler She's so far posted 21 new videos on her pre-existing TikTok account complaining that the $10m judgement was unfair and two jurors were biased. She's also saying she was denied evidence by state officials that could have proved her case. Looks like an appeal is a given.

The defendant, Ashley Guillard, who asserts she has pyschic abilities with tarot card readings, also moved on the last day of the civil case to excuse another juror who had seen her TikTok videos prior to trial, after alleging she was biased against her. Judge denied the motion.

@TrueCrime_s @PhilipCDube The court judgement is that the TikToker must pay the professor $10M, so yes that's what she must pay. Whether she has the money is another question, but the rule is the debt cannot be discharged by bankruptcy, so the TikToker can't file for bankruptcy as a get-out.

I've followed this case from day one after my teen alerted me to the videos. Our defamation laws are much stricter than in US but this still sets a precedent that you cannot baselessly accuse someone online and expect no comeback. Imagine there's a lot of deleting going on today!

Boise, ID | A federal jury awarded $10M to University of Idaho history professor Rebecca Scofield in a defamation lawsuit against TikTok influencer Ashley Guillard. The tarot card reader from Texas repeatedly & falsely accused Scofield of orchestrating the Nov 13th, 2022 murders of the 4 University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, & Madison Mogen. Guillard kept posting dozens of videos on TikTok claiming that Professor Scofield was responsible for the killings & that she had an inappropriate relationship with one of the victims. Professor Scofield, who was chair of the university's history department, had never met the students & was out of town when the murders occurred. In Dec 2022, Scofield sued for defamation after Guillard refused to stop posting the false viral videos. A federal jury deliberated for less than 2 hrs before awarding $10M in damages which includes $7.5 million in punitive damages & the remainder for emotional, physical & professional harm. In June 2024, U.S. Magistrate Judge Raymond Patricco ruled in favor of Scofield, determining the video statements were oppressive, fraudulent, malicious & outrageous. Bryan Kohberger was later arrested for the murders & in June 2025, he pled guilty & received 4 life sentences.  Guillard represented herself at trial, claiming her accusations were based on "intuition" rather than facts. FYI, under federal law, the award is nondischargeable in bankruptcy because of the malice finding. Guillard will be paying on it until paid in full. @LawCrimeNetwork @NancyGrace @CoffindafferFBI @CourtTV @nypost @nytimes @ABC @NewsNation @latimes @UIdaho @UIdahoLaw

@PhilipCDube She's been rightly slammed. I saw some of her early videos and her followers were begging her to stop but that just emboldened her and her accusations became more and more outlandish. Amazing that her psychic ability didn't foresee yesterday's outcome though…

@Robyn_Delvey This case was particularly inflammatory because the professor asked the influencer to stop and to remove the videos because they were false and hurtful. Not only did she refuse but flexed by playing them more frequently. The jury slammed her today.

@nlawson946 @MalCan4401 She no longer has a TikTok account. She explained to the court this morning that her account was banned in 2023 over complaints.
