@someballfacts @lucianosanchezl Sweden 2013 showcases his peak profile better, but Spain 2018 is the biggest carry job (closest in that regard is probably Atletico 2019).

@lucianosanchezl i am not sure what his best game is. someone else who is a cristiano "expert" might have better insight. all i can say is this is the highest level of football.

My main takeaways from this historic-level performance (based on highlights below - have not rewatched match, but saw live) (1) Near technical perfection. Almost every touch is calibrated, efficient and oriented to produce vertical momentum, engage tight situations at all-time level of proficiency. (2) Elite physical sharpness and conditioning. Ronaldo is engaged and firing sharply and efficiently in his physical actions - sprints, jumps, turns. (3) Decision making - exquisite interpretation of the play. Always picking out the right action and importantly - the right tool: left foot when necessary. (4) Completeness as a footballer: wins first and second balls with his heading, wins duels, sprints from deep, sprints into space, ball carrying, play construction, scoring. (5) Historical decisiveness. Scoring a world cup hattrick is practically unheard of. Doing so against a superior team puts this squarely in the category of historical performances.

@maktub_61 Funnily enough, I remember that back then it was the consensus that Ronaldo was the more complete player but that Messi was still the better player overall for showing up in big games. How things change!

@fredcrx_ In the UCL, Benzema is closer to Messi than Messi is to Ronaldo. And I hope Mbappe delivers something nice this season. He needs to climb that list a bit, ffs.

@someballfacts Don't know if it's that drastic, but through balls generally require more touches from the finisher than crosses and cutbacks, and Ronaldo's chances tend to have a higher xA on average, whereas Messi relies more on volume. So that would check out.

Wait what? Is this true FT?
The god@ChiHilari43559

@DegurechaffSama Been researching this stat since yesterday Ronaldo assists that were finished in one touch are over 90 percent Messi assists that were finished in one touch are less than 17 percent Whole De bruyne has over 60 percent. Unbelievable shit! Ronaldo gives the more quality assists

@ronaldowave I'm afraid we've already exhausted all our "all-timer international campaign after 40" cards on the Nations League. But we shall see...

@StatisticUrban Other than Andrew Tate, I've only ever seen the "straight sex is gay" take from Nick Fuentes.

@StatisticUrban I'd say Anglosphere culture is more different from the rest than the US is from the UK. So 1.

Which is more true? 1: American culture is fundamentally just an offshoot of British culture 2: American culture is its own thing, unique

@maktub_61 You see this in the fact that even people who include defenders in their all-time top 10s only include 1 or 2, the rest are all forwards. Not what you'd expect if all positions were equivalent.

@Nikos_17 Curious, have you read David Deutsch? (particularly The Beginning of Infinity) Ayn Rand aside, he offers the most inspiring worldview I've come across.

A usual reply I get when sharing my political journey: ‘If you're not a leftist when you're young, you have no heart; if you're not a conservative when you're old, you have no brain’. I hate this quote. Every part of it. Everything wrong with politics is there: 1) why is the Left the only side viewed as idealistic? Because its opponents have indeed zero idealism (except some quasi-fascists - not all idealism is good). Because classical liberalism is seen as ‘compromise’ and boring GDP graphs. Because no one (minus maybe 10 people) can make a MORAL and inspiring case for liberty. 2) Why is the alternative to being a leftist being a ‘conservative’? Screw that. The Left are the real stagnation-seekers. I want Maglev trains, life expectancy to 500, terraforming Mars. They want to ban plastic straws.
