Canada’s greatest failing was the belief that the American led multilateral world would never end; it did and the rest as they say is History

The oligopoly gatekeepers don’t want foreign capex in Canada because they might actually have to expend some effort on maintaining their ridiculous market shares. They own the Liberal party and the Liberal party owns Canadians. Case closed.
Richard Dias@RichardDias_CFA

Canada is DESPERATE for Private CAPEX. Total Investment is rising, but this has been driven by Government CAPEX, and it remains insufficient in both quantum and scope. Canada will not escape its Productivity Emergency without Private Sector Capital Expenditure.

@CanadianPolling This doesn’t make sense. We always hear in Canada that any private involvement in healthcare is existential evil that must be banned in all circumstances

@feezy_does_it @CPC_HQ It’s scary that this needs to be said but the US is far away the most powerful country in the world. We share a border with them and have literally no hard power. For further information study the history of geopolitics

Why are Conservatives so eager to please the US? This is peak pick-me behaviour, and it starts at the top with Pierre. The US is not a safe ally anymore. They outright threaten us. They want to take over our country. It looks like the @CPC_HQ is fine with that...
Kate Harrison@KatlynHarrison

Let's be real. Despite running an entire election on it, a deal with the U.S. was never the priority for this government. It was getting to a majority, so that they can skirt accountability from voters when things worsen for Canada in the months ahead. #cdnpoli

New: CBC Poll says 96% of seniors see immigration as a net positive despite crime and healthcare strains. Vancouver — A new CBC poll has found that an overwhelming 96 per cent of Canadians aged 65 and older view immigration as a net positive for the country, even as many express concerns about its impact on public safety and access to care. The survey of seniors comes as Canada continues to grapple with record population growth driven largely by immigration, which has coincided with soaring housing costs and stretched healthcare systems in major cities. Eighty-six per cent of respondents cited declining home values as a top concern, with many emphasizing the importance of maintaining property equity built over decades. “I love the diversity — my cleaner is from the Philippines, my gardener from Mexico,” said one 72-year-old retiree from West Vancouver, who asked not to be named. “Just don’t let anything slow the bidding wars until I flip this place to the next overseas buyer. After that? The kids will figure it out.” While younger Canadians face skyrocketing rents, stagnant wages and fierce competition for entry-level jobs, seniors largely remain supportive of high immigration levels. Many plan to use rising home equity to fund extended winters in warmer climates like Florida or Europe. The poll arrives amid growing national debate over whether Canada’s immigration targets align with infrastructure capacity. Yet for this demographic, the benefits appear to outweigh the strains — at least until the “For Sale” sign goes up. CBC News Poll • April 2026

This is why Lutnick and Trump are threatening to tear up the USMCA. I will stand with Prime Minister Carney through thick and thin. We can no longer trust the United States and for that reason they no longer deserve 70 cents of every $1 we spend on defence. 💪🇨🇦

Sarah Fischer@SarahFischer__

It’s bad in this country. That’s not a partisan or political statement, it’s the reality. People can’t afford what they could ten years ago, even if they’re making more. We have the highest food inflation, the highest housing costs and the most household debt among G7 countries. Crime has become common in our streets. Woke DEI policies have corrupted meritocratic systems, and our long-held traditions and fundamental values are being eroded. I hear from Canadians all the time who wish they could leave this country because of how much it’s deteriorated, but they can’t afford to. How sad. The feelings of devastation and hopelessness are so common among my generation, I would call it a crisis. This is the result of domestic policy. This is the result of 11 years of Liberal government. This is the result of Liberal recklessness, centralized control, ideological imposition, and a general lack of trust in the Canadian people to live and run their lives how they see fit. I know there are some (I see you in my comments) who have no idea of this reality that so many are facing. It’s as though you are in a different world. And that’s where the government would like you to stay, oblivious, unbothered, not concerned. But please, have some empathy and understanding. Canada should not be like this. The potential of country is insane. We can do so much and be so much. Prosperous. Strong. Free. Self-reliant. More government, more Liberal government, is not the solution to this devastating state of affairs, it is the cause. We need better. We can do better.

@HenriAGS Why is it in Canada patriotism exists in inverse proportion to caring about the economy? Sorry Henri we can’t eat our obsessive hatred for the United States

@HenriAGS We would still have to get rid of the dairy cartel all the cartels actually. And revise all of our regulations and standards; the US isn’t asking for anything close to that. I must be “mapleMAGA” 😂

@andersostlund Can’t happen Canada is secretly one of the most protectionist countries in the developed world. Foreign competition is banned in many sectors and in parts of agriculture like dairy even domestic competition is banned

@JulieSDixon He’s up against a full-blown cult of personality by the largest demographic cohort in Canadian history that has a pathological aversion to change. This isn’t what a country with a strong future looks like
