@SteveRulesAll01 @MarkMeadows Germany never honored their promise on defense spending. Like most other countries of NATO. Why should the US? They didnt pay their share. The data is above. When Trump told them to honor the treaty and stop buying Russian oil they laughed about it. x.com/harmless_human…
MostlyHarmless@harmless_human

Too late now. War should never have happened. Not Trumps job to get that territory back. He warned them and they laughed at him. NATO countries made a deal with Russia to buy Russian gas while expecting the US to protect them form RUSSIA? Russia then had the funds it needed to go to war with Ukraine that NATO taunted them into. F em

You are repeating your lies again "If North Korea attack UK the Entire US military goes to war for UK" Incorrect the US wont lift a finger for #NATO according to trump Defense Spending and "Obsolete" Claims Trump has repeatedly characterized NATO as an economic burden, calling it "obsolete" and a relic of the Cold War that costs the U.S. too much money. He has falsely claimed that member states like Germany "owe vast sums" to the alliance and demanded they "pay their bills," arguing that the U.S. is a "schmuck" paying for protection while allies benefit unfairly. Threats to Withdrawal and Encouraging Aggression In a stark escalation, Trump stated the U.S. does not "have to be there for NATO" and declared the alliance a "paper tiger" without American support. He previously suggested he would not defend "delinquent" allies and explicitly said he would "encourage" Russia to attack nations that fail to meet defense spending targets. Recent Retaliation Over Iran War Following European refusal to join U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran in 2026, Trump lashed out at the UK and France, warning that the "U.S.A. won't be there to help you anymore." He labeled allies who refused to support the operation as "cowards" and "unhelpful," stating that countries must now "learn how to fight for yourself" because the U.S. no longer needs their assistance.

"you think saying the US pays 16% of the shared budget makes them look bad? " Never said that but, at last you admit thats all they pay toward the shared nato budget Everything else they pay up and above that doesnt go to #NATO but the upkeep of NON NATO US Self defence forces and equipment around the world.

Arrogance and ignorance of Europeans to think the NATO is defense of Europe. THERE IS NO NATO MILITARY. NATO is a mutual defense agreement for countries of the North Atlantic. If North Korea attack UK the Entire US military goes to war for UK in the Pacific. SO all the defense around the world protect NATO. The war in the Middle East is proof of this. The defense doesnt just happen where the attack occurs. Europe cant even defend its own continent let alone threats around the world.

Its not bullshit to call out your ignorance. Not sure why you care what the US spends it defense budget on when we honor far beyond the 2%. Article 3 clearly states that every country needs to be able to defend itself yet you seem to be upset about US defense. I know you just want to deflect on how Europe never honored it. UK and Greece always did. You would think you would be more upset at the rest of NATO.

Stop your bullsheet now. The U.S. defence budget which comes out of the range when including national defense function 050, is primarily broken down into these major categories for the Department of Defense (DoD): Operation and Maintenance (O&M): The largest share, typically ~35–40% of the budget. This covers day-to-day operations, training, readiness, fuel, maintenance of equipment and bases, and overseas operations. In recent years (e.g., FY2024 actuals), it exceeded $300–$330 billion. Military Personnel: Roughly 20–25%, funding pay, allowances, housing, healthcare, and retirement benefits for active-duty service members, reservists, and civilians supporting the force. Recent figures have hovered around $150–$200 billion. Procurement: About 15–20%, for buying new weapons, vehicles, ships, aircraft, missiles, and other equipment. FY2026 requests were in the $200+ billion range, reflecting efforts to replenish stocks and modernize. Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E): Around 10–15%, supporting innovation, prototyping, and testing of future technologies (e.g., hypersonics, AI, directed energy). This category has grown significantly, often exceeding $100–$140 billion. Military Construction (MilCon) and Family Housing: Smaller portion (~2–5%), for building and upgrading bases, barracks, and infrastructure. Other/Defense-wide: Includes atomic energy defense activities (via DOE), revolving funds, and miscellaneous accounts. These categories are further allocated across the military services (Army ~18–20%, Navy/Marine Corps ~25–30%, Air Force/Space Force ~20–25%, plus Defense-wide and SOCOM). The FY2026 Pentagon request was approximately $961.6 billion (discretionary base ~$848 billion plus mandatory elements), with total national (self) defence potentially approaching or exceeding $1 trillion depending on supplemental funding. Exact percentages and dollar amounts shift slightly each year based on priorities (e.g., great-power competition, procurement surges), but O&M and personnel consistently dominate as "must-pay" accounts for readiness, while procurement and RDT&E drive modernization. The budget is discretionary spending, appropriated annually by Congress via the NDAA and appropriations bills."

LOL I read your post and corrected you. There is no NATO defense budget. The NATO budget is is coordination and administration. There is no NATO military. Every country in NATO agreed to article 3 and 2% of GDP was the agreed MINIMUM on defense spending. Most countries didnt honor that for decades and now they barely do AFTER Russia invaded Ukraine.

I am glad you made that foolish ill informed post Even in Europe US has more defense than any European country "The U.S. has roughly 84,000 personnel in Europe across 31 permanent bases and 18 other sites," None of that comes out of the NATO budget. The US defense forces around the world are not #NATO or under #NATO and never will be. The 990B the US spends is soley spent on maintenance, upkeep, renewables, wages, missiles, satellites, both around the world and in the US itself. That is why that 990B comes out of the US "NATIONAL" { self } Defence Budget, and not the US #NATO Budget. They are two entirely different things. None I repeat none of that 990B goes towards "investing in #NATO" You didnt read my post did you
