@krzyzanowskim Idk but I don't feel bad telling the AI that it should change something 10-20 times. I don't care if it has to throw away code it has already written. I'd feel guilty telling someone real that I changed my mind yet again, cheap or not :D It also doesn't have a strong "opinion".

we knew how to make bad code, cheap, and fast, before agentic coding emerged. why didn't we follow that path earlier? it bugs me. why now? we had the knowledge how to build bad code before.

today, a tall guy in a colorful sweater walked up to me. i was already at the end of my social energy reserves, having dozens of people walk up to me, never having 5 minutes to breath. the guy just wanted to say hi and thank me for pi. i thanked him for his kind words, like i did a lot of times today, hoping that i finally get my 5 minutes. until i looked at his name tag. it was @lucasmeijer one of the most instrumental people behind the Unity game engine. i was sort of star struck and we ended up speaking for 4 hours, chilling outside the venue, finding out that while we never meet IRL we had an immense amount of shared history. we reminisced about AOT compilers we worked on, shared ex-business partners , our shared emotional rollercoasters when we had to let go of the technical achievements that defined our lives, burning out, finding your identity again, all paired with an immense amount of laughter and the joy of having found a kindred spirit. we eventually went on a hilariously inefficient pub hunt, ending up at the weirdest fucking "upper class" establishment called "The OWO" where everyone was looking at us two dorks like we were aliens. They made us put stickers over our smartphone cameras and sold us lagers for £11 a pop. hilarious. i now remember why i loved speaking at conferences 15 years ago. i think i made a friend today. so, thanks @swyx and crew for putting together @aiDotEngineer and letting me clown around on stage. fantastic vibes, great people.

After 30+ years of signing windows drivers, we have been locked out of driver signing like many other companies. In a word, the disrespect and disregard with which MSFT is treating IHVs and ISVs is stunning. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s because we didn’t read our emails or submit the right verification paperwork. Cuz we did all that back in October. And this month, we were suddenly and without any warning locked out. Support said they’d “do their best” to let us know “within 90 days” if we’re good enough to get back on. In the meantime, many thousands of desktops and instruments are not being updated, cuz we can’t sign drivers. Awesome job, Microsoft. Thanks.

The same industry that produced 𝘚𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘥, 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴, 30 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬, and 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘣 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘌𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘴𝘮 — shows that built NBC’s empire by making audiences laugh 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 it was uncomfortable — now produces sanitized, pre-approved content designed to offend no one and entertain no one. Kudrow put it simply: “𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦” — the kind where an audience thinks “𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵”. That reaction is now classified as a liability. Studios run scripts through sensitivity readers before they run them past focus groups. The result is shows that feel like corporate HR training with a laugh track. This is what happens when an entire industry surrenders creative freedom to the loudest complainers on social media. The audience didn’t stop wanting edgy comedy — the ratings for reruns of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 and 𝘚𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘥 on streaming prove that every single quarter. Sometimes male anger at ‘women getting special treatment’ reminds me of a gorilla experiment. One gorilla gets a banana every hour. The females next to him get one every four hours. Then someone decides to be ‘fairer’ and gives the females a banana every two hours instead. The original gorilla? He flips out. He’s still getting his banana every hour, but it feels like a loss because his advantage shrank. That’s how a lot of men react to basic fairness for women: not as justice, but as theft.
k@alfkkifine

what opinion about men do you have that makes people feel like this???

couple years ago, one night, i was about to propose to my girlfriend when my roommate Joseph barged into the room out of nowhere, tripped, and fell over, breaking a glass table with his face. Totally ruined the mood. Now I didn't know Joseph THAT well, don't even remember where he was from, but let's say I put my plans on hold to help him through his injuries. Joseph had gotten big glass shard in his eye, making him completely blind in that eye. He was walking around with one of those cotton pads on his eye for a couple months. Then suddenly, he disappeared, along with my girlfriend. Apparently they'd bonded during the time after his injuries, and eloped together, leaving me behind without as much as a note. I tried to track them down, but never could. In conclusion, if it hadn't been for cotton eye Joe, I'd have been married a long time ago. Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from, cotton eye Joe?

@MrPitbull07 You have to be extra dumb to break into a house with a doggy door in the first place. Maybe he taught it's for a cat, but still. Do your research lol.

A burglar thought the doggy door would be the easiest way into the house, until he got stuck halfway and met the family’s Chihuahua. What started as an attempted break in quickly turned into one of the worst mistakes that an intruder could have made. A home security camera captured a man trying to squeeze into the house through the doggy door, clearly thinking it would be an easy way inside without making too much noise. At first, it almost worked. He managed to force himself partway through, enough to think he might actually make it. But then he got stuck. And that was the moment the real security system showed up. The family’s Chihuahua, Churro, had heard the noise and came running to investigate. At first, the tiny dog seemed confused by what she was looking at. But the second she realized a stranger was halfway inside her house, that confusion disappeared. Churro went to work. The little dog started barking, growling, and biting at the intruder while he was still trapped in the door, giving him no chance to settle in or figure out a way forward. What he probably expected to be a quiet break-in turned into pure panic, all because one Chihuahua the size of a watermelon decided the house was not his to enter. Eventually, the man backed out and took off, clearly deciding the fight was not worth finishing. The owners, who were seeing everything unfold through the camera, called the police right away. And when officers arrived and reviewed what had happened, even they could not help laughing at the fact that the whole break-in had been shut down by the smallest dog in the house. One officer even joked about whether Churro might be ready for a job with the K9 unit.

I taught Claude to talk like a caveman to use 75% less tokens. normal claude: ~180 tokens for a web search task caveman claude: ~45 tokens for the same task "I executed the web search tool" = 8 tokens caveman version: "Tool work" = 2 tokens every single grunt swap saves 6-10 tokens. across a FULL task that's 50-100 tokens saved why does it work? caveman claude doesn't explain itself. it does its task first. gives the result. then stops. no "I'd be happy to help you with that." no "Let me search the web for you" no more unnecessary filler words "result. done. me stop." 50-75% burn reduction with usage limits getting tighter every week this might be the most practical hack out there right now
