May 14th 1976 - 33-year-old Keith Relf, former lead singer for The Yardbirds, was electrocuted while tuning a guitar which was not properly earthed. The accident happened in his West London home where he was found by his eight year old son, still holding the plugged-in electric guitar. Relf co-wrote many of the original Yardbirds songs, including "Shapes of Things", "I Ain't Done Wrong", "Over Under Sideways Down", "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago", etc. After leaving The Yardbirds, he released a solo single before forming Together (with Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty). Which morphed into the embryonic classical rock band Renaissance (two albums).
