There has been a lot of history in the past between AT&T and Sirius working together to cooperate on WCS spectrum. They likely have active working relationships today. And now theres an opportunity to mutually benefit both AT&T and Sirius to monetize this spectrum better: $ASTS

for accessing this freed up spectrum. Here is a direct quote referring to this.

I have always believed $ASTS and Sirius would partner. There is a lot of reasons why it would make sense. The #1 reason being AT&T owns an adjacent WCS Band, b30. However, this band is NOT valuable to AT&T today relative to other bands.

I have to go, but there's a new FCC filing about "weird stuff." The FCC may soon allow S-band holders like Sirius and At&T to lease S-band spectrum directly to 3rd parties like $ASTS. There may be something here worth digging deeper into... docs.fcc.gov/public/attachm…

@bugslinger24 I have a long thread on this. Here's the original one: x.com/RocketTank123/… Telstra has already stated the current Starlink solution does not fit the requirement. They need NTN-NR which will open up more bandwidth and better device performance.

Very interesting dialogue came out of 3GPP RAN Plenary with regards to NR-NTN using IMT Bands (SCS over NR). There is a large push for SpaceX, its direct MNO partners, as well as technology developers (Mainly chipsets and base station vendors) to push NR-NTN SCS into 3GPP (1/n)

@RocketTank123 I wonder if Starlink current offering will fit their definition of “connectivity” or if Telstra needs to keep the door open for a pivot to AST if Starlink does not meet the requirements. I believe more than intermittent texting will be required.

My thoughts on the April 20th UOMO Public Hearing and what it may mean for the D2D industry in Australia: 1. As of today, there is a single D2D solution in Australia. That is Telstra + Starlink. It utilizes spectrum sharing in Telstra's 2600 MHz band.

@bugslinger24 Things could always change - as you even heard from AT&T CEO. These companies are likely always listening and if a better opportunity comes to them, they may consider committing to it. But given where we're at right now, I think Telstra to AST is the least likely of the big 3.

@bugslinger24 Inversely, I think it's much likelier that TPG ultimately becomes a partner, given their Vodaphone connection. If you look at the MWC slide, they are included. But I don't think they were ever included in earlier investment presentations.

SpaceX states they want access so they can work with everyone, that includes Optus and TPG. So there's definitely some tension between SpaceX and Australia/ACMA/Telstra at the moment. So let's see what happens in the upcoming months in Australia. More to come...

5. Which carrier is SpaceX mostly contesting with? It's existing partner Telstra. The reason is, Telstra wants access to the 2 GHz Spectrum. And if Telstra has access to 2 GHz, if Starlink wants to work in Australia, they must go through Telstra...
