@mattrohde8@JasonBrand Pretty hard to do everything Matt. Best part was the number of young keen blokes. We pulled up at Oscar’s and they were all keen enough to jump out in a shower of rain to keep learning😃
Germinating rain 11 days ago and another rain 5 days later, 11mm in total. Glad to see the canola up even on this swampy black ground, would be good to get enough rain to fill the cracks one day soon. JD disc seeder is great at establishing canola
Would like to thank Shane and his team for going out of their way to get one of their 90t Easy field bins to us for the start harvest, really looking forward to using it😃
@schnaars_chris Found this Twitter idea good for round snails and capacity in our 2388 for the top sieve, it’s 199 expanded mesh. The chains had trouble cleaning the very edges thoroughly, we added short small chains just cable tied down in recent years which solved that issue
Pretty impressed when one of the company owners show his commitment to making the best product he can by driving all over Australia to strengthen them just in case it might be a issue in the future. I learnt a lot in a few hours. Thanks Lenny. It’s a beautifully designed machine.
Found these blocks give you a bit more room to move when changing the oil and filters in the back end of the tractor, there great for the truck too and the handle on the block makes that bit easier too
@RodPohlner You can thread 2 onto one to make A frame. Thread each anchor strap around towing points first on harvester/mower. Then put pair thru towing strap then thread towing strap thru both ends together. No metal projectiles in set-up other than drawbar pin.
Trying to come up with ways to avoid using heavy D shackles when joining recovery straps. Not sure if this soft shackle/lifting sling is a good idea yet but it might spark some ideas.
@CraigGorfin Thanks Craig that’s all good advice. Suppose I’m worried if someone hasn’t got a dampener sitting right in front of them they might choose not to go find one. So was hoping there was a way to take the danger of the D out of the setup
@RodPohlner Soft shackles are not tested or recognised by Worksafe, using something like that will put you in more danger, use proper rated D shackles and dampeners
@pdsnowden Thanks Phil that’s a good idea. Was thinking I’d like to leave a bridal type arrangement under the harvester permanently and connect to it without having to use a D or undo the bridal to tread the strap over it.
@RodPohlner This is how you join recovery straps without D shackles. Stick is so you can get them apart after towing. Simply feed them thru each other.
@mattrohde8@rtay_b That’s a good idea. Just wonder if we might get complacent after a coupe of extraction and forget to use the tyres. We will need to have a good spot the carry them
@rtay_b That is true, at least if it breaks it’ll have less chance of hurting someone. Really hoping someone might have a even better idea. Heavy duty soft shackles are really expensive compared to an ordinary D shackle
@SamEastwood56 That’s great Sam glad I could help someone. I did wonder about welding a tungsten tile on mine but not sure if I want it on all for the time yet. Will be interested to know if you will decide to leave the scraper there permanently
@picks33 I’ve moved the gauge wheel away from the disc, the screw of the clamp protrudes from the cleaning edge of the gauge wheel so it alone brushes the disc reducing the friction and heat build up of the RFM gauge wheels
That $3 hose clamp stoped me getting out of the cab every 10mins to clean baked on mud off between the gauge wheel and the disc Usually I can run the wheel close or wide & one will work, when neither did the clamp stoped the build up but it did throw more mud so I made a mud flap
@maleastwood Don’t like them when dry they throw material up on top of the opener and sink into lose soil. When wet they clean the disc well most of the time and let the mud out through the spring. He’s improved the design on mine which has a spot the mud can lodge, which I’ve since modified
@rtay_b Ha thanks.it wasn’t perfect but stoped a lot of the mud and trash getting in there, as you know if it fills up with stuff on that side of the disc it stops turning again. I felt like I couldn’t win at one stage😀
