At today’s Committee of Council meeting, Brampton City Council welcomed Jeet Tulshi for the announcement of the 9th annual Don Doan Dash Charity Run, supported by the @Bendersrunning running club. On September 13, residents are invited to run or walk at Professor’s Lake in support of ALS research, while honouring the memory of Don Doan, a former City of Brampton employee and 2019 Sport Hall of Fame inductee. Through every step, participants will carry forward Don’s legacy through community participation, active living and support for an important cause. Proud to speak at the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS with the Brampton/Orangeville Chapter along with Cllr @RodPower7_8. I paid tribute to Brampton's legend Don Doan and my old friend from Barrie Derek Walton. They lost their battles with ALS but their courage inspired many and their fundraising propelled research forward. I miss their friendship but I will never forget their impact. I am optimistic that one day, we will END ALS. Walks like this one make a difference by raising real dollars for research and progress. @ALSCanada

The City of Brampton is expanding its Automated Licence Plate Recognition program to strengthen parking enforcement and support safer, more accessible neighbourhoods. Seven AI-enabled units are now operational on by-law enforcement vehicles, helping officers identify parking violations faster, improve compliance and respond more strategically to areas with recurring parking concerns. Parking enforcement officers continue to patrol 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a focus on concerns that impact public safety, including blocked emergency access routes. Safe and accessible neighbourhoods depend on everyone doing their part. Please follow parking and street use by-laws to help keep Brampton’s streets safe and accessible for all. Happy to speak at the 12th Annual “Walk The Path" Walkathon along with Cllr @Navjitkaurbrar and Cllr @RodPower7_8. This walk supports The Walnut Foundation, a volunteer-led, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Black men’s health, with a particular focus on prostate cancer awareness, education, and support.

NCCT has been an extraordinary organization advocating for justice, human rights and accountability for the war criminals in Sri Lanka that continue to evade justice for their crimes against humanity. Brampton is marking a major milestone with a $64 million federal investment in the Embleton Community Centre and Park, announced today as the first project under the Build Communities Strong Fund! Thank you to Prime Minister @MarkJCarney, Minister @gregorrobertson, and our federal partners for their continued collaboration in supporting healthy, complete communities. Planned at approximately 175,000 square feet, the Embleton Community Centre and Park will feature: 🏊‍♀️ An 8-lane competitive lap pool and leisure/teaching pool 🏋️ A fitness centre and gymnasium 🎨 Flexible spaces for recreation programs, arts, culture and community use 🧸 A childcare facility 🌳 Outdoor seasonal amenities with pathway and trail connections With $148 million already approved by City Council, this future state-of-the-art community hub will bring everyday activities and services closer to home for residents of all ages and abilities.

UIC Seniors Brampton organized a successful Community Eid Millan, bringing together community members for an event with joy, unity, and celebration. Councillor Rod Power graced the occasion addressing the audience and assuring his support for community focused initiatives.
