EDD is proactively reaching out to claimants via email and text to remind them to reapply for #unemployment benefits after 12 months when their benefit year ends. SMS text alert messages from EDD will show as 510-74 or 918-06.

Did you receive a Form 1099-G from EDD and suspect identity theft? Make a report. EDD will investigate and issue a corrected Form 1099-G as appropriate.

Once a claim expires, certification weeks after that date are no longer eligible for payments. Claimants receiving regular UI, PEUC, or FED-ED, need to reapply for benefits after 12 months. If your benefit year expired and you still need benefits, reapply. Bit.ly/UIBYE

@Rodrigo37347068 @CA_EDD The 8003005616 number... I have been trying for couple weeks. Calling sometimes like 50x a day.. today I called once and got the try again then called again and got thru... was on hold for about 9 minutes than on the call with rep for bout 5.

@CA_EDD If you are within your benefit year, exhausted all of your benefits and are still waiting for the PEUC extension to be applied, I know it stinks, but CALL THEM! I talked to a tier 2 on 05/08 and got the UI message today that it's being applied.

@Rodrigo37347068 @CA_EDD I used 1-800-300-5616, press 24 after the 1:50 minute message. It will save you from having to answer the questions and connects you to an operator if there is one available. I called 70+ times. But if you sit there all day, you SHOULD get through once. Maybe.

@CA_EDD I finally got through via phone. I had to call back to back for 6 hours. UI answers about 1% of all calls, I must of called 70+ times. Enter ext. 42, it will save time.
I learned my claim was expired, I wasn't eligible for a new claim, so they extended my existing claim.
