Artists, “independent” doesn’t mean by yourself. Know your weak spots and seek help. Can’t write a hook? Team up with songwriters. Don’t get publishing? Find an admin partner. Working with others in person, especially, adds an energy you won’t find online.

@SpratFool I get that and it's a valid point. I just think artists continuously make horrible decisions but the blame or responsibility is always placed on other people. You can have bad actors around you but what you do is ultimately your decision.

@RodriqueNation Never did I say the artist isn’t accountable. He/she is. But so is the person you appointed Your manager/rep not advising you on the pattern is the issue. Digging deeper & deeper with no return. Why? Because the manager lacks the knowledge or wants that 20% of some BS money rn

I’ve seen artists run through their advance fast, then go and reup while barely recouping, spend it & then re up again and again If your manager or rep never stepped in and made sure you knew what the fuck you were getting yourself into Find better people around you

Another thing, just cause you send a press release to a media outlet or dm a commentator about your music, doesn’t mean they will or have to post you. You’re not ENTITLED to that & you’re not owed nothing by doing that, it’s part of YOUR job as an artist.
