#BREAKING Rameshwar Prasad Singh, 33, a recently arrived Nepalese national on a student visa, has been sentenced to just 1 year and 9 months for raping a woman he lured with a fake job interview.
Singh, held the teenager down and raped her inside a Sydney office building after she responded to an online job ad in Sydney’s inner west.
Singh posted a job ad on Nepalese classified app Kaam Kotha, writing: “Jobs for females only” in Ashfield.
The victim responded to the ad, and Singh asked if she was available to work at 8pm that evening.
Singh met the victim at Ashfield Mall before he walked her to an office building.
Upon arrival, the victim noticed that all the lights were off and the building empty with Singh telling her that “sometimes the lights didn’t work”
“The victim began to feel things were not right,” the court documents state.
She got into the elevator in an attempt to leave however, Singh followed her, blocking her from pressing a button.
The victim told police she thought she was “going to die”
He will be eligible for release in just 15 days on May 20, 2026.

Social cohesion isn’t something we take for granted. It’s something we build together, through respect and understanding.
His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa is in Australia, supporting our strong and diverse Muslim community and the values that bring us together.
A global voice for interfaith dialogue, and a leader in the fight against extremism and hate, his work continues to bring people together across faiths and cultures.
Thank you for meeting with me in Sydney this morning.

@Herbiefarnworth Don’t check when someone actually puts the ball down over the try line but let’s go to video ref to check who the ball comes off last before it went dead!

Still waiting for the @nrl MRV committee to explain how they think player welfare is important to them...
This is exactly the same as a player being hit after he passes the ball, then relaxes and gets smashed
