Korkea verotus, jyrkkä progressio, sosiaaliturvan taso, tulojen mukaan määräytyvät asiakasmaksut (kuten varhaiskasvatus) ym. on otettava huomioon. Kannattaako työ, kannattaako vuosikymmenten raataminen? Selvityksissä on myös havaittu, että suomalaiset hahmottavat tulonjaon todellista eriarvoisemmaksi. Kansa aliarvioi keskituloisten määrän sekä yliarvioi pieni- ja suurituloisten osuudet. Se ei hämmästytä, kun seuraa julkisen keskustelun virettä. Ylivoimaisesti oleellisin tekijä pienituloisten määrän kasvussa on maahanmuutto. Tuloerokatsauksia olisikin ihan virkistävää seurata rinnakkain vain suomalaisen väestön tasolla.
