The Netflix movie "The Rip" is preposterous and dumb None of the plot makes any sense Also, the Miami cops don't know how to pronounce "Hialeah"

You can’t convince me JJ McCarthy couldn’t do exactly what Drake Maye is doing in this game so far

Blocking a lot of people today. Not cuz I’m soft. Not cuz they disagree with me. Because there are certain behaviors I would never, willingly, allow into my orbit in real life. And I don’t think this platform should be different.

@lindsay_rhodes Guess we are establishing the > or < value when it's acceptable or not to take off two weeks.

@RogerP21530 Or… a more apt comparison… since Kwesi’s paternity leave wasn’t on Draft Day FFS… what if the starting QB missed a mandatory minicamp in May to spend two weeks with his newborn and the mother who is recovering from childbirth? Like… what are we trying so hard to do here???

Alt perspective on this: If a leader takes time off offered by organization, he makes it ok for other people who work under him to do the same. It establishes a boundary that can help with culture. There have been NUMEROUS stories in recent yrs of coaches saying they want their coaches to go home for dinner… that don’t glamorize sleeping on a couch in your office. Work smarter, not harder. If they’d won, this note would be featured in an article about ways he changed the culture. They didn’t… and so we’re here.

#Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah took roughly two weeks of paternity leave in 2023 following the birth of his first son, and many around the league were in “disbelief” that he did this, per @DMRussini and @alec_lewis. During that time, he worked remotely and was absent from several training camp meetings and practices. Minnesota was publicly supportive of his time away: “Following the birth of his first child, the general manager left for paternity leave, missing about two weeks of training camp meetings and practices and working remotely during that stretch. Word of his time away from the team traveled quickly around the league. Among some rival executives and coaches, it was met with disbelief. In an NFL culture where many players, coaches, and executives proudly acknowledge missing the births of their children, taking time away to care for a newborn and support a partner remains uncommon.”

@DomClare I disagree with the two weeks.. few days? OK complications sure. What if the coach or starting QB has a child during the season? Playoffs? Super Bowl? Then what do we call it?

Nah. I stand with Kwesi on this one. 2 weeks ain’t shit. You will never get that time back. No amount of money or job title will convince me otherwise.

@MichaelAngel1A @edgewalker81 @DMRussini @alec_lewis What if the starting QB has a child during the season or playoffs? Or Head Coach? What if the second string player wants two weeks off? What will the GM say then? If mom and baby are good. Get back to work like all men have for thousands of years.

JJ McCarthy was not close to being traded to the Raiders last offseason. That is bullshit. But… There are obvious questions and concerns about the 23 year old. Only a matter of time until we see how it all shakes out.

It’s still strange to me that the #Vikings plan to navigate the entire free agency and draft process with their current staff, only to bring in a new general manager after the fact (if they don’t make Rob Brzezinski the GM). Hope this doesn’t turn out to bit them in the future.

Been thinking about this since the NFC Championship, and it's probably wack, but here goes. Last offseason, we employed this logic: Sam Darnold choked in the two most important games of 2024 ➡️ Therefore, he will choke again in big games. That was wrong. This offseason, there's this temptation: J.J. McCarthy is injury-prone and isn't very good ➡️ Therefore, he will get hurt in 2026 and won't get much better. Maybe we should learn a lesson, and take a leap of faith? Thinking out loud. 🤔
