I see an element of contradiction here It is hard to argue that some demographic groups don't deserve special protection, due to their particular vulnerability BUT. Claiming that you deserve both special protection *and power* is vile, absurd, totally abhorrent
Mike Lee@BasedMikeLee

No decent person—any certainly no conservative person—should mock an 83-year-old’s fall That was heartbreaking, and the thought of anyone finding it amusing is hard to fathom

@CillianMacAodh The photocopier polygraph is actually US police lore old enough to have been quoted in the 1990 Zimbardo and Leippe attitudes textbook I taught from in grad school!

In Russian, “Chud” was a somewhat disparaging term towards Finno-Ugric people meaning something like “strange”, “weird”. Basically all kinds of “weird” natives, Slavic settlers are encountering when pressing east “Chud Lake” divides Russia & Estonia, for example

It says that approving of something & inviting other people to approve of it is allowed "assuming it does not cross the line into inviting support": but there is no line. They're two slightly different ways of saying the exact same thing

"Inviting someone else to provide encouragement to or intellectual support for a proscribed organisation" is an offence, but "expressions of personal beliefs or personal approval for a proscribed organisation, or invitations to someone else to share that opinion or belief" aren't
Madoc Cairns@MadocCairns

Another example of how absurd the UK government's position now is: Section 12 offences (as the independent reviewer notes below) target attempts to recruit for or sustain a proscribed group. It's logically impossible to do so for Palestine Action - because PA no longer exists.

@vurnt22 Basically, in the 80's, if you were named after a continent, you were pompous AF. And remember the "Heat of the Moment" video? From the days when "we will show you literally every image from the lyrics" was a school of video making.

That’s easy-Traveling Wilburys downplayed their wealth & fame from their name, which sounds like a grandma quilt. Asia’s name (unintentionally) invoked British Imperial appropriation. It’s combo of Drama & Virtuosity placed them cinematically above & aloof from the Pub Punter.
Joe Momma@jmforge1

@vurnt22 Oy🙄😉 but seriously ladies and germs, why did the traveling Wilburys get so much love but Asia just catches grief? Is there some kind of supergroup hierarchy? And if so, where would we put Damn Yankees

@linkshund It turns out the new party was entirely composed of agents of MI5, MI6, the Met, GCHQ, 15 county constabularies, Naval Intelligence, the CIA, the FSB, the Anti-Comintern, Meta, and one actual leftist ironically named Thursday.

@rinireg The people continually express their electoral rejection of the status quo the winning party inevitably ends up endorsing, until one party reaches out and stops the swinging pendulum dead on.

@katrosenfield as Scott Alexander pointed out: the important variable isn't a person who's in an open marriage, but a person who wants to write about the intimate details of their marriage for a national audience
