Here's some quick improvements for this manuscript: 1) In the "plain language" summary, we catch a glimpse of the total study population - scientifically stated as "over 1,200 patients" 2) Of those "over 1,200 patients", 321 presented with "late complications". So, ≤26% of the total population were considered in this study. 3) Half of this subgroup had surgery first. 4) Of this 321-patient subgroup, 131 patients required hospitalization. So, ≤10% of the total population required hospitalization. Extrapolating further, ≤5% of patients receiving radiotherapy without surgery required hospitalization. That would be a more accurate calculation for the abstract/conclusion/discussion. (This isn't even considering the study data showing patients receiving primary RT were significantly older and had higher comorbidity burdens. The primary RT group also presented with more advanced disease. As such, observations in the primary RT group could simply reflect the inherent fragility and disease severity of that cohort rather than a treatment-specific effect.)
