In Bangladesh,I met a Rohingya mother separated from her son during the 2017 genocide. Now alone in a refugee camp, she hugged me and whispered,“Tell my son your mother touched here.”She had nothing to send but her love. And it crossed oceans. #Rohingya #Genocide @RohingyaWomen

Giving #Rohingyawomen voice “For a community to be successful, women make the decisions as well. Like I always say, Allah has given us two hands - one man and one woman “If both hands are not clapping together, we can’t make sound. #SharifahShakirah unhcr.org/en-my/news/sto…

On this eve of seventh #Rohingya #Genocide Remembrance Day in #Texas, we did a full-day workshop consisting Rohingya youths from school, college and university on August 23 followed by an open Genocide Remembrance event on August 24 with the members of the community from #Houston and #Dallas. These workshops include brainstorming of ideas and implemention of these ideas, different from previous two years. These efforts will continue. We have identified a few key areas in which the Rohingya Youths across the North America can contribute towards the nation rebuilding process through governments, local groups, universities and colleges social works and advocacy and so on. We believe that this could the beginning of the something big. This will not stop here. We extend our deepest gratitude towards brother @nslwin and brother Sahat Zia Hero for joining us and contributing their extremely valuable and helpful information and ideas. These helped a lot. More in the replies… #RohingyaGenocideRememberanceDay #RWDN

The Rohingya who were detained by the BGB were pushed back last night around 1 a.m. This has left them even more vulnerable, as they are now stranded between the borders of Bangladesh and Myanmar once again, with no end in sight. #Rohingya #SaveRohingya #StopGenocide #Bangladesh

The AA terrorist group launched a brutal attack on the Rohingya community using heavy weapons and drones, killing at least 200 people at Naf River beach. This morning, I recovered the bodies, including those of a family. These actions are grave violations of human rights.@UN @hrw

AA killed at least 200 Rohingya in a single day. On August 5, 2024, the Rohingya from the downtown area of Maungdaw Township in Rakhine State went to the Naf River bank in search of a way to flee to Bangladesh. However, they were targeted by the Arakan Army (AA), which sent drone bombs and fired artillery. On that single day alone, at least 200 Rohingya civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, were brutally killed, and many others were injured.

Ms. @sharifahRWDN, founder and executive director of #RWDN, briefed the consortium of the #US Govt funded refugee resettlement service providers (#YMCA, IM, CC, Alliance, WCS, BEI and other community service providers) in #Texas about the efforts needed to support newly resettled refugees in the state to fulfill their needs, find work and further education in order to be able to contribute to the country's economy and integrate in the local societies. She also talked about the importance of providing similar opportunities of resettlement to more unfortunate refugees (esp from #Burma and surrounding countries) — and discussed the steps required to do it through already existing programs of the US Gov’t and newly implemented 'WelcomeCorp' program — who could positively contribute to the country's economy and overall welfares. When people get to a new country, they tend to become busy while trying to settle down and with work so that they can live better. Among all these, we commemorate this event here every year to show that we have not forgotten what has happened, what's happening and what will be to our people back in our homeland. This was a local event in Houston, TX, held to commemorate 6th Year of #RohingyaGenocideRememberanceDay, to advocate for the #Rohingya cause among the local Americans, to educate and develop Rohingya community settled in the region and identify how we could be each other's assistance and participate the US society, economy and politics. This event was organized by Rohingya Women Development Network (#RWDN), International Literacy and Development's Rohingya program attended by many members of the Rohingya community, local community members and honorable guests and distinguished speakers. We will keep this up, inshallah. For more: m.facebook.com/story.php?stor… @shari
