Gaza’s hunger crisis has reached new and astonishing levels of desperation. 🔴Nearly 1 person in 3 isn’t eating for days 🔴90,000 women & children need urgent malnutrition treatment Food assistance is the only solution to stop starvation in its tracks. There's no time to lose.

🔴 Hunger is widespread in Gaza and people are dying. 🔴 Deadly malnutrition among children is reaching catastrophic levels. 🔴 Food is dangerously scarce, and clean water is below emergency levels . 🔴 Aid is severely restricted and dangerous to access. This is a man-made disaster. Enough is enough. The United Nations must be allowed to deliver aid of all types at scale to families, wherever they are.

Over the weekend in Gaza, we saw yet more mass shootings & killings of people seeking @UN aid – an atrocious & inhumane act which I utterly condemn. We need an immediate ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages & unimpeded humanitarian access.

Israel is continuing to use starvation as a method of warfare, a war crime, and as a tool to commit genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip. The harrowing suffering of starving Palestinians in Gaza, including our own colleagues, on an hourly basis, is exacerbated by Israel’s cruel and devastating militarised non-neutral ‘aid distribution’ system. Over 800 people have been killed trying to access aid. This must stop now. Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza must end now. Israel must immediately lift all restrictions on the entry of aid, reinstate the UN system of aid distribution and allow unfettered, safe, and dignified access to humanitarian aid throughout Gaza immediately. States must stop their inertia and urgently act to ensure Israel fully complies with international law.

The East of DRC has seen massive violence this year which has forced thousands of civilians away from their homes. With our work, we aim to support to the much-needed humanitarian response.

The sampling design is based on a cooperation with Mobile Network Operators, and will be informed by highly unusual mobility patterns we can identify from pseudonymised Call Detail Records.

This summer we'll be launching a survey to learn more about Internally Displaced Persons in the DRC 🇨🇩, and how to improve methods to reach them with direct cash transfers, in a cooperation between @flowminder & @GiveDirectly.

We have been engaged in the DR Congo 🇨🇩and collecting daily data since 2020, supporting stakeholders in the country with data collection and population estimates for use cases such as reaching zero-dose children so that they can be vaccinated.
