@SHEEPSLIVE The sponge on a stick sitting in vinegar was also how Romans wiped their asses.

@Rollo_Rob @WallStreetApes I was on my town board for 14 years and am well aware of the cost pressures town leaders face. The primary expense of local govts is people and most are hesitant to cut staffing levels, but that is the only way to reduce the prop tax burden imo. Also means reducing services

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says when he became governor local governments were taking in $32 billion, now they’re taking in $60 billion
He says this is because property value assessors have raised everyone’s home values, so their taxes went up
Ron DeSantis says he wants to eliminate all property taxes for everyone on their primary home resident and he’s putting it on the ballot
“We could get to a point very quickly in Florida where 90 some percent are not paying anything. And eventually we, we'd phase in the elimination so it can be done. And if we don't do anything, they're gonna have 84 billion in revenue in 2031”

In an interview with Lex Friedman, Musk said that after 2027 there would be no going back.
When the reporter clarified what he meant, Musk paused for almost a minute, then added:
“It’s not a catastrophe, it’s a transition.” Analysts have identified three themes that he has been particularly vocal about: autonomous intelligence, loss of meaning, and energy dependency.
Everything he predicted is already happening.
The first sign is the collapse of attention.
Musk said that people will stop thinking long-term.
The planning horizon has shrunk from 30 years to three; people don’t build, they just innovate.
MIT research shows that the generation born after 2000 has an attention span of just eight seconds.
Musk called this cultural Alzheimer’s.
The second sign is artificial intelligence, which will no longer be subordinate.
Musk said: “When the system starts correcting the person, and not the other way around, linear logic will end.”
Algorithms already control our attention, choice of partners, food and thoughts. This will not be a revolt of machines, but a silent loss of freedom of choice.
The third sign is the energy dependence of civilization.
People are increasingly unable to survive without electricity for even a single day. When energy becomes currency, its control will become power.
Musk believes that by 2027, the relationship between people and energy will surpass everything, and everything that is not autonomous will disappear.
There is only one way out: a return to meaning. “Technology is stronger than us, but not smarter. As long as we have goals, we are not algorithms,” Musk repeated.
He added: “We must learn to be human before systems start doing everything for us and controlling us👌

@rdoyle12839 @WallStreetApes Significant portions of spending increases included things like insurance premiums skyrocketing, which is built-in, and inflation. People are so quick to blame town leaders but inflation and insurance are out of their control.
English

@WallStreetApes It’s not the property assessments! That only is used to give you the tax rate per 1,000. It’s that the local govts have increased their spending. If you drop property tax as the funding mechanism you’ll have to replace it with something else. Cut local budgets first.

The food crisis isn’t coming. It’s already here.
70% of U.S. farmers can’t afford fertilizer for 2026, and the damage is set.
That means shortages haven’t hit yet… but they’re about to.
At the same time, food, fertilizer, and energy facilities are “spontaneously combusting” across the globe.
@ChrisMartenson has been tracking it closely, and the pattern is clear: this isn’t random.
So why isn’t anyone talking about it? 🧵

RANT: So I pay $1700 a month for Blue Cross insurance for myself and my daughter. My cardiologist is worried about this massive clot in my heart and scheduled a scan but I have to get another doctor that I have never met to approve it. He can't meet with me for six months. The way we pay for healthcare is broken.

The parable of the talents is about the heroism of the slave- and the word is slave, not servant - who buried his talent, which is a weight of measure (so for silver we're talking tens of millions in USD). The slave was described as fearful, but clearly showed temerity, standing up to the slave master who wanted usury, interest, and to reap what he did not sow, to take from those who even have nothing. A very Jewish writer like Matthew would have considered the usury, the interest very taboo for foreigners and outright gangster when charged against fellow Jews. Immediately after the parable, verse 31 begins with a delta episilon "But" which is never translated appropriately- as in But when Jesus comes in his glory... Throughout Matthew, Jesus contrasted the worship of money and God, saying things like you cannot worship God and money, a few chapters earlier. Even in the same chapter of the Parable of the Talents, Jesus was quite harsh on the love of money. In short, the parable of the Talents is NEVER translated appropriately and unilaterally misunderstood. NONE of what I am saying should be construed or inferred as a challenge to your political statements; I'm not really following the debate. The fact that the guy worked hard and is reaping the benefits of his labor is great.
English

In the Bible, the servant who invested the talents given to him and made a return many times over, like this South African gentleman, was praised.
The servant who buried his talents in the ground was condemned as slothful.
But what was never contemplated was what happened to the servant who spent his talents on Mercedes-Benzes or sent them back home to Somalia.

This guy is a model of what refugees should do once in the U.S. He’s not supported by the government. He’s working and building a life here. Is that why the left hates the fact that people like him can be refugees? They don’t need the government to provide for them.

@MaxWatersNZ @megbasham Huh? It totally appears on his Truth Social feed. Grok is wrong. Saw it myself.

I don’t know if the President thought he was being funny or if he is under the influence of some substance or what possible explanation he could have for this OUTRAGEOUS blasphemy. But he needs to take this down immediately and ask for forgiveness from the American people and then from God.

@MaRy_JaNe1209 @NickAdamsinUSA @mend_alyn So this post is not totally clear; Trump's Truth Social Post does show the image on the right, NOT the "original" image on the left.

Turns out the original photo was posted by @NickAdamsinUSA but someone in the Trump camp decided it would be wise to alter it to add a demon and repost. 👀

@mmamasaidd I think we are talking the typical backyard here, significantly less than 10,000 square feet.

Backyard chickens require insane amounts of inputs that you aren't going to be able to sustain in a food chain collapse.
Want real backyard food security? Plant every square foot with POTATOES.
PLANT POTATOES ON YOUR ROOF, IN YOUR LOCAL PARK, ON NEARBY STATE LAND, DOWN BY THE RAILROAD TRACKS, IN THE BAYOU, AT GRANDPA'S HOUSE, IN YOUR FRONT YARD, ON THE ESGES OF YOUR DRIVEWAY, ON THE HIGHWAY MEDIANS, AT YOUR KID'S SCHOOL, AT THE LOCAL POND, IN THE HOTEL PLANTERS DOWNTOWN, IN YOUR SUNROOM
