Here are the facts: 1.) Did Dallas get better. Yes absolutely that can’t be denied; but that was done the moment they decided to can Flus and not resign Dono and Murray. If that was the goal, to get better, it wasn’t a big goal to set. Addition by subtraction alone made that a reality. 2.) Yes it matters that Jerry lied yet again. Broken promises and expectations set only to be overwhelmingly undelivered is stable of Jerry Jones as a GM without Jimmy Johnson making the calls on the roster. In other words he has a big mouth, with the abilities to do what he says, but no actual desire to. 3.) it’s not about being better than the team they were last year. It’s about competing for a SB. With that as the bar, it’s about getting better than the teams that they need to compete with to make that a reality. Would you sit here and tell me that the teams they are competing with that were better last year, didn’t remain just as good or better or even after subtraction are still better? Philly being better than them is the easiest path to making the playoffs. Sure you can beat them; but that doesn’t mean you are better than them. That just means Dak is their daddy. Philly wins more because they are better and as of right now they are better. Minnesota was better with you last year with Ice JJ Fish at QB. Now they have Murray who owns Dallas. Lions are just as good as last year for the most part. Bears lost a lot of talent and starters but they smacked Dallas last year and until otherwise proven Ben Johnson owns the Cowboys. Panthers were better than Dallas last year and got a ton better in the offseason. SF got better this offseason on their own and with the help of Dallas oddly enough 🤦‍♂️ Seahawks are SB champs and even though they lost a few pieces they have to be considered better as such. Rams have to be considered the SB favorites and NFCC as of today. This team would get smacked by them and that’s before they add AJ Brown possibly or what they do with the 13th overall pick and the 2 others they have in the top 93 of the draft. Rams have added an All Pro corner, one of the other top corners on the market as well who is better than the corner Dallas signed that was there’s who Watson replaced, were already better and still have 13, 61, and 93 as premier picks to get better, while Dallas has a pass rush hole still (need a high end rusher, they don’t have one) none left in FA, need a green dot off ball LB (high IQ) guy don’t have one and FA is done with them, and if we are being honest still need a true number 1 CB. Dallas has 12, 20, and 92 to do that, in other words the difference that Dallas has over the Rams is 20 over 61 to close the gap, unless they mortgage future picks to do so. As such, Rams will most likely be better regardless next year. That’s 8 teams (assuming you are better than GB now which you just ironically might be), including one in your division. There are only 7 playoffs spots; so even if you do become better than Philly and win the division which is realistic, not actually competing and being 1 and done or winning a WC matchup and getting your butt kicked by Rams, Seahawks, or 9ers after (which is extremely probable right now) is the most likely outcome. This means another wasted year. Hot air, by hot air Jones. All talk no action to making this team more than anything outside of being relevant, just good enough to compete and be talked about and be on ESPN for all season and a playoff game. That’s why people are mad and should be. Yes they will be better, congrats, no they aren’t going to magically be contenders unless something drastic happens between now and the SB.

I refuse to let the piss-in-my-Cheerios portion of Cowboys Nation keep pretending this defense didn’t get better and it’s all doom-and-gloom. The real question isn’t if it improved… it’s how much. Oh, and we still have two first-round picks that can be used in a trade or to add two more defensive players. Could Jerry have been more aggressive? Yes. But let’s stop acting like this is the “same old Cowboys” doing nothing.
