Crazy Fact: Major League Baseball has been around for 147 years, and there have been a little over 23,000 players who have played a professional baseball game. To put that in perspective, MLB's smallest stadium by capacity is Progressive Field at 37,830. Meaning if every player who's ever put on a big league uniform from 1876 to 2023 sat in the stands, the stadium would only be at 61% capacity.

@TJMacSD Wow! This runs counter to all the conventional wisdom. I wonder if this holds across all sizes of cars, especially the smaller cars that are not as high profit for the manufacturers, as the SUVs and muscle cars.

Five years ago the argument was expensive and heavily subsidized EVs would spur innovation and a bevy of Camry-priced EVs. Instead it's gone the other way. wsj.com/articles/the-u…

@GrandaAdrian There seems to be far more excessive speeders now especially passing on the right and frequently in the far right lane. It probably helps the auto body repair shops but the hospitals don’t need any more business now. Drive responsibly.

The CDC now recommends not driving like a total savage as it saves lives, like 10,000 lives a year at least acually. Not an ironic CDC dunk, actually a real one. Take care of each other y’all.

There was a woman who worked at a UCSD clinic who told me several years ago that the divorce rate would go down when this was open because she would be able to get home & have dinner with her family. 😉

Good things do come to those who wait. I couldn't be more excited about today's official opening of the Mid-Coast Trolley Line, officially known as the UC San Diego Blue Line. With single-seat service from University City to the Border, it's going to be a transit game changer.

Nice thread from @RonRobertsSD on the long saga for building the Mid-Coast, from someone who was a long champion of the project.

Finally, here's the day we signed the $1 billion deal with the FTA. Today, everyone can and should celebrate -- and the rides today are free!

I have had the opportunity to ride the entire line and travel atop four miles of bridges and see the nine new stations that themselves will be hubs of housing, commercial and retail activity. It's all even better than I imagined. Let’s all use it and everyone enjoy the ride.
