@BigSto Lyrics written
don’t mean they carry
“Feel it in your soul.”

@NicholasCraven_ You can share the outcome
Not the origin
“Some things stay sacred.”
English

@ifeelvoid 3 tools don’t make a system
What happens between them does
“If it don’t make dollars, it don’t make sense.”
English

@NatSoCold Same motion daily
different results require direction
“A change gon’ come.”
English

@kaicash If it only lives while you do it
it dies when you stop
“Let it breathe.”
English

@KennyMuney__ Not everything you do counts
Only what moves
after
“Make it make sense.”

@YoungJHollyWood It’s not overthinking
It’s fear of what happens after
“Trust your soul.”
English

@FosterThePrnxtr Creation isn’t ownership
That’s why the art travels
but the artist doesn’t
English

Artists don't have the power to clear samples single-handedly. They don't own the rights to their own records lol.
R.@makeit_reyn
Aunt Lauryn Hill didn’t even clear that sample and she was really on stage with Ye singing 😂

@MrChuckD @HipHopDEMOCRAT If it’s reporting
don’t treat it like admission
Same voice
two different outcomes
“Fight the power.”
English

@HipHopDEMOCRAT Never used ghetto or hip hop ….the original line was ‘ Rap was the CNN of Black America’ in 1988
English

@lilduval It’s easy to post it
Harder to admit
there’s nobody to call

@WZRDShip @onlythehost Funny what sticks
Not always the songs
sometimes it’s the small things

@Art_of_Sampling Consensus isn’t taste
it’s risk management
Call it “heat” if you want
just know what you’re protecting.

I rarely wade into the waters of music review/opinion on music that’s outside the lane of what *I like. And *I like and appreciate LOTS of different styles of hip hop/rap music, spanning 2026 back to the late ‘70s.
But the “this is heat” comments referencing this Hot 97 freestyle right here? Stop it.
That level of cap reminds me of the old folktale ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’. People often *cap to avoid being seen like they’re not hip*. Everything ain’t “heat” or “dope”, and that’s ok.
And look, we don’t all have to like the same thing. That should be a given. But over hyping anything mid or obviously not spectacular is never a good look. I’m not saying this freestyle is *wack* per se. But if someone said it was “mid”, I’d have no problem with that. And if someone said that it was “not spectacular”, I’d agree…
If you’re 25 years or older, you’ve seen at least 5 years of Hot 97 freestyles. You already know there’s been some exceptional ones, some great ones, some good ones, some mid ones, and some unforgettable ones. Ask yourself where on that spectrum does *this Hot 97 freestyle sit?
And anybody being honest knows damn well that flow, delivery, an intonation always matter in hip hop/rap music…

MIKE and Earl Sweatshirt just dropped a freestyle during their Hot 97 interview 🔥

@lyricspoetic You don’t always know why it hits.
You just know when it does.
English

@jackmoses777 It’s not artificial.
You’re just not used to it yet.
New always feels off
before it feels right.

@atlonglastcz @GoldenBoy_2022 They climbed the ladder.
They never left it.
