News: It has begun.
Major League Baseball and the Players Association are holding their first collective bargaining meeting in New York today, making opening presentations ahead of what's expected to be a lengthy fight over a salary cap.

@DylanGonzo13 @SFGiants the A’s regularly out drew the Giants before PacBell park.

@RootInGreed @SFGiants Boo hoo maybe the fans should’ve shown up when the team was good

"Asked if there was anything else Fisher could have done to keep the team in Oakland, Wolff said litigation was the only remaining choice..."
Or, you know, he could have just built at the Coliseum site... which Fisher already owned half of... where Wolff had wanted to build initially... and where construction on a new stadium would have already been finished.
But yeah that would have been crazy.

The Giants had no power over what the A's did or didn't do in Oakland/Fremont/Laney College/Coliseum/Howard Terminal.
That was just John Fisher flailing.
SFGs did have territorial rights over San Jose. And used them. Cold business, but business.

In addition to Lacob being left out, Selig/Giants played a role in the Piccinini group being left out. "I can tell you there's an executive with the Giants, who shall go unnamed," Piccinini said. "I ran into him at a Warriors game. He said, 'I hear you're getting involved with the Padres. We want you in San Diego; we just didn't want you here(Oakland).' My thought: Lew Wolff always has been and will be an ineffective blathering flim-flam John Fisher and Bud Selig sycophant nytimes.com/athletic/72175…

Pretty good overview of the A’s debacle, despite the pronunciation of “Nevada” and “Bally’s.” Billion dollar budget shortfall aside, John Fisher isn’t someone baseball fans in Las Vegas should be rooting for.

@metsinvegas @VitalVegas This is how you know he never visited the Coliseum! Yes the area around the Coliseum is the hood, with homeless tents...(it's a statewide problem) so is the Bronx but hardly a war zone or unsafe.
English

@VitalVegas Except they left the part where the area around the ballpark was dangerous and disgusting something the city refused to address I went there a few times the years before the left and it was like walking through a tent city of drug addicts and criminals

@metalmax7541 @VitalVegas The Warriors moved to a Team owned facility in the same market, If that's a loss then NY lost the Footbal Giants/Jets, SF lost the Niners, etc.. Yet you never here the same accusations towards those cities. #SELL
