4. I dated a guy through most of college and a few years after. He was controlling and demeaning. My alcohol saved me because when he asked me to marry him I said, “Ask me later, I’m not drunk enough yet.”

3. I worked full time, went to school full time and drank ‘full time”. I can’t help but laugh when I think back to being hungover for every class in my “Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco” class.

2. I went away to college and by my second semester I had arranged my classes around my drinking. I got into a relationship, he was abusive. Alcohol let me put up with it. Having Before

@adamalabama29 It can be either, honestly. I counted the days the first year because I wanted to drink one minute after midnight when day 365 was over. I didn’t, but that is a story for another day. Now I don’t count, but I acknowledge each year as a miracle.

I need a second opinion. No wrong answers. Is counting up to 365 days in a year without alcohol a good idea or is it personal?

1) I started getting drunk the last month of high school. Got totaled at the after prom party. My escort had been an ass all evening. I got drunk (blackout) and he got his nose broken…I still don’t know if I did that or not.

Reading the posts from those who are new to sobriety brings back so many memories of early sobriety… I’m thinking about posting about mine. #sobriety #NoMatterWhat #ODAT

4 years ago today I made the best decision I’ve ever made, I quit alcohol. Easiest decision really, my life a complete train wreck.. #RecoveryPosse

@Cirruslei_Noh @TomBresnahan_ I’m one of those who came and stayed. I am in awe of the people who go back out and come back. Time sober reminds me to be grateful.

@TomBresnahan_ As someone who was sober for 25 years, slipped, then got another 4 years, I think the emphasis on “time sober” is one of the most destructive concepts in AA

4 years clean & sober again today after a slip with many years. Grateful to God I made it back. Things got so good, figured I could imbibe occasionally. Learned the hard way I couldn’t. Mindful now it’s a gift I need to maintain daily, stay vigilant, wolf is always at the door.

@TomBresnahan_ Going out and coming back is as inspiring to many as staying sober and never going out. Wonderful!

Congratulations on 5 years of sobriety to Skyler! 🎉 “5 YEARS SOBER!!!! I F****ING DID IT!! The day most thought would never come, the day most people doubted including myself!! truly didn’t know if I would make it to the 5 year mark when | got sober!! But here we are!! Sober AF and absolutely killing life!! Today I get to celebrate myself and be completely unapologetic for the man I have become today!! I may have been on this journey alone and some days are heavier than others, but my god is it worth it!! Today I am not only celebrating myself, but l am celebrating my kids!! For the last 5 years they have woke up everyday with a sober, present, loving and understanding father that they deserve!!”
