Answering a few requests for the Charleston Municipal Golf Course, a Chucktown favorite. This course dates back to 1929 and, over the years, it had grown pretty rough and rugged around the edges. In 2021, Troy Miller gave the place a full makeover inspired by Seth Raynor’s terrific work at nearby Yeamans Hall Club and the Country Club of Charleston. The result is not only a hell of an engaging and entertaining course, but it’s one of the only places anywhere that golfers can get a real taste of the Raynor templates simply by booking a time and paying the fee. If you’re headed to Charleston and this place isn’t on your list, you’re missing one of the best municipal courses you’re going to find anywhere.
