I agree Dan, I really enjoy managing the wide variety of pathology in relatively fit and healthy populations. You need a good understanding, breadth and knowledge across the med specialities. For example yesterday I managed patients with: 💊Ank Spond, 💥acute ATFL tear, 🦠PVL skin and soft tissue infection, 📉post viral fatigue, 🫀LQT, 🦴tibial bone stress injuries, 🤕post concussion, 👹acute Achilles tendinopathy… …..etc etc. 🤓

Also lest I forget working with amazing physios, podiatrists, S&C, physiologists etc. So interesting and always learning!

Friday musing - working as a sports medicine consultant is great as in many ways you are still a generalist. Get to work with other specialists like cardio, resp, gastro, ortho and rheum and share patients, discuss cases and learn from them. Love my job 😀

@jmelau Absolutely agree Jørgen, a very sad incident. We need to continue research and further our understanding of the risks and underlying causes of these deaths.

1/6 The recent death in an Ironman race made me reflect on why I began my PhD a few years ago. At that time, our primary concern was that most deaths in triathlons happened during the swimming segment of the events. It is still not very well known why this is. #triathlon #ironman
