A huge congratulations to Merlin Entertainments for reducing their operating loss to only £58 Million in 2025.
All it took was making huge staff redundancies, reducing quality across the board, and making their attractions completely unappealing to visitors.

@coasterclub Interesting to note that staff payments are higher than last year after firing loads of staff and binning off entertainment. Haven't looked into the data too much yet but losing almost a billion pounds over 2 years is mental, they surely can't carry on like this.

@SanctuaryNurse If anything Universal will allow Merlin to be even lazier, a 4 hour round trip to the famous Alton Towers is a standard day trip for non-Europeans. So therefore footfall will increase without them having to do anything.

As a life long Alton Towers fan, I’ve never felt so disappointed in the park. It really is disheartening to see the place you love, fall so far behind.
Everything from the ride availability to the staggered openings is affecting the guest experience massively.

@Fazcoasters @coasterstudios Due to it being on an island, I think there are strict planning laws relating to Wooden Coasters hence they have never had one. Would be the prime spot for the UKs first RMC but again Planning laws!

Thorpe Park has closed their rapids, which take up quite a large plot of land. With the incoming pressure from Universal Great Britain, could Merlin be planning a big new attraction in its place? What would you like to see in this space?

Thorpe Park has announced the permanent closure of Rumba Rapids. The Intamin river rapids ride opened in 1987 as Thunder River. No replacement plans were revealed yet.
