Exclusive The Halifax Panthers and new owner Martin Buchan have been given the green light for the club to return to the Championship for the 2026 Rugby League season. The club was placed into compulsory liquidation in a High Court hearing last month. With Halifax’s fixtures against the Sheffield Eagles and Barrow Raiders postponed. New owner Martin Buchan has agreed to honour all contracts of the remaining players with the restructured Halifax expected to take to the field against the London Broncos next Sunday. This is great news for the Halifax Rugby League community.

Super League side Bradford Bulls have announced that Fijian flyer Waqa Blake has signed a new, full-time two year deal – keeping him at the club until the end of the 2027 season.   The 31-year-old initially joined the Bulls on a two-year deal prior to the start of the 2025 campaign, having previously represented Penrith Panthers, Paramatta Eels and St Helens.   Blake certainly made an instant impression amongst the Bulls faithful with his all-action approach with and without the ball – making 31 appearances earlier this year in the red, amber and black, scoring 14 tries and creating an astonishing 19 try assists.

@GavWilson Yep, on a hiding to nothing anyway. They lost plenty of games in the Championship and the player pool to make 3 teams more competitive just isn’t there, the same will happen in Super League for them but then again results don’t matter in Super Duper League.

Other than the Odsal millstone, Nigel Wood's obvious corruption and Mick Gledhill's endless nonsense I actually have nothing against Bradford Bulls. Good luck to them, I think they're going to need it. #RugbyLeague
