@_ChanFace 14,000+ units under construction right now. Last census downtown Halifax was the fastest growing DT in the country.

@ErikBootsma Not everything can, or should, be beautiful though. Sometimes we just have to build stuff to get things done. The cost and time difference of the right vs the left could be significant.

According to (Modernist) YIMBYs aesthetics doesn't affect support for projects at all.
Rather than ramming ugly proposals through over neighborhood objections, architects and planners should strive to make beautiful buildings that enhance neighborhoods rather than uglify them.

@oliverdueck @DenySully Hard to say without knowing the exact mix of units.
English

@oliverdueck @DenySully Going rate per unit now is ~$350-$400k per door, so the cost makes sense.
English

@DenySully $293k per occupant seems insanely expensive, especially considering it includes 3- and 4-bedroom units and presumably they already owned the land.
English

@DenySully Is Moncton's boom mostly mid-rise (6-12 storeys)? A lot of the zoning changes in Halifax support larger high rise development which only so many firms can build. Suspect a lot of the mid-rise lands inventory are either already built or permitted.

Researchers consistently found carbon taxes contributed small amounts to inflation. These small changes accumulated to price levels increasing by about 0.6 points, also consistent with previous research.
Today's StatCan release confirms previous analysis was accurate.

How many times were we told that the carbon tax was not adding to inflation. Now inflation is down because the consumer carbon tax was reduced to zero. From StatsCan.
