On this day in 1915, John McCrae wrote his famous poem “In Flanders Fields”. It was written by McCrae after he presided over the funeral of a friend and fellow soldier during the First World War. The poem was officially published in Punch Magazine on December 8th, 1915. So many years later, his poem continues to poignantly express the tragedy and losses of war, and the importance of carrying on their memories. #LestWeForget

'Leaked report reveals problems with literacy, competency amid permanent resident recruitment push' nationalpost.com/opinion/jamie-…

The Globe and Mail headline: “Success rate for basic training in Canadian military drops. Here’s what Juno News uncovered that the Globe left out: One officer training platoon was 83% non-citizens. Many recruits had been in Canada for less than 3 months. One platoon had a 48% graduation rate. 52% FAILURE RATE. Recruits broke into ethnic infighting. Racial discrimination complaints filed in every direction. The internal CAF report flagged recruits experiencing “for the first time” being expected to treat women as their peers. Many couldn’t speak English or French. They were offered permanent residency as an incentive to join. The Globe called it a “success rate drop.” Juno News called it what it is. One outlet takes $0 in government money. The other takes millions. Guess which one told you the full story. CONNECT. THE. DOTS.
