“When kids feel a sense of belonging at school, when they receive the right kind of messages from an adult who believes they can succeed and who is attending to them with some degree of compassion and respect, they are then more likely to reach for and find success.”

“The focused mind only picks up on those aspects of a situation that are needed to accomplish the task at hand. It is not distracted by other thoughts or external events, it is totally engrossed in whatever is relevant in the here and now.” #Focused #Present

“As one achieves focus, the mind quiets. As the mind is kept in the present, it becomes calm. Focus means keeping the mind now and here.” #Profound

It’s good when central office admins remember what it’s like to work in a school.  It’s good when school admins remember what it’s like to be a teacher.  It’s good when teachers remember what it’s like to be a student.  The students… they’re just trying to get through their day.

Schools spend hours trying to “reach” the kid who openly doesn’t care, while the kid who tries every day quietly gets ignored. We’re exhausting ourselves chasing resistance instead of investing in effort.

“The concentrated mind has no room for thinking about how well the body is doing, much less of the how-to’s of the doing. When a player is in this state, there is little to interfere with the full expression of their potential to perform, learn and enjoy.” #Learning #Flow

There is a curious power in being present. When we are present, we see a person more clearly. We communicate better. We make lasting connections. Unfortunately, in our go-go-go world, being with someone who is fully present is rare. When it happens, it’s an experience that stays with us. Presence is something that makes us feel worthy, valued, and understood. I have found myself asking this question: How might the world be different if everyone took a few extra minutes to be completely present with just one person every day? Remember, the greatest gift you can offer others is not your skill or effort. It is simply you.

Make this a consistent reminder each year. Paint it in the hallways, make it a poster, do whatever it takes to remember there is a child you teach each year that needs a teacher just like you ❤️

What kind of leader are you? There isn't only one type of leader: Different people gravitate to different styles, And different contexts require different leaders. In a crisis, you may need to make quick decisions. In calmer times, you may need to inspire, guide or help. As things change, good leaders adjust too. Around 80% of effective leaders adapt their style to fit their team's needs. (Harvard Business Publishing) Flexibility is key. But - You don't have to do everything alone. You can team up with other leaders who have complementary ideas, strengths and styles. Your role as a leader is not to have all the answers; Your role as a leader is to encourage teamwork and flexibility to find those answers. 👇 Want a PDF of my top infographics? 👇 ▶️ Go Here: fullpotentialzone.beehiiv.com/subscribe Please repost to help others out there! ♻️

We are built to play and built through play. When we play, we are engaged in the purest expression of our humanity, the truest expression of our individuality.

“The purpose of feedback is not to give grades, but to improve performance.” – Grant Wiggins At Quist, we’re leaning into the powerful ideas of Grant Wiggins to shape the kind of classrooms our Royals deserve. ✅ Classrooms should be places where: •Students understand the goal, not just the task. •Feedback is timely, specific, and actionable—so scholars know how to grow, not just what they got wrong. •Learners are active participants, not passive recipients of information. •Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, not failures. 🚫 Classrooms should not be places where: •Feedback is vague (“Good job!”) or judgmental without guidance. •Students wait weeks for feedback, making it irrelevant. •Instruction is one-size-fits-all, ignoring individual needs and strengths. •Compliance is valued more than true engagement and understanding. Let’s continue creating learning spaces where feedback fuels growth and every scholar has a clear path forward. Our Royals thrive when learning is transparent, responsive, and rooted in purpose. #QuistRoyals #FeedbackMatters #GrantWigginsWisdom #GrowthOverGrades #PurposefulLearning #RoyalExcellence

There should be no shame in admitting to a mistake; after all, we really are only admitting that we are now wiser than we once were.
