@AndrewCMcCarthy Trump advised Congress before doing anything. The War Powers Act authorizes him to do what he's doing. The entire point of the WPA is Congress delegated to the President short-term unilateral war power. Congress doesn't have to vote on it for at least a month.

I wish President Trump had gone to Congress and made the case. I wish Congress had vindicated its war power by voting on it anyway. But jihadist Iran has been at war with us and made ‘death to America’ its compass for 47 years. I’m grateful we’re destroying the regime.
