@TheAthleticMLB @keithlaw Law is behind the times here, with multiple guys on this list purely here on where they were drafted, not how well (badly) they’re doing now (Doyle, Caminiti, Rainer). And having Gavin Kilen here over guys like Fitz-Gerald, Hartman, Hartshorn, Lin, Milbrandt is just laughable.

We’ve already seen a plethora of players from @keithlaw’s preseason top 100 MLB prospect rankings reach or appear in the majors this year, including the top two prospects, five of the top 10, four of the next 10 and 18 from the top 50.

Too many guys here who have name brand, but aren’t great. Liam Doyle for instance was born in June of 2024 and has a 6.44 ERA in AA, and he’s ranked 20th. And yet Wei-En Lin, who’s a year and a half younger, and has a 2.03 ERA in AA, is nowhere to be found. @keithlaw

Josiah Hartshorn is 19 months younger than Bryce Rainer. Bryce Rainer is slashing .211/.315/.352 with 67 K’s in 38 games between A and A+ this year. Josiah Hartshorn is slashing .290/.430/.497 with 28 K’s in 41 games between A and A+ this year. Prospecting moves fast.

This stat is mind boggling. Dave Dombrowski has struggled to find right-handed hitting outfielders, but so has the entire sport.
