Everyone should be free to speak their mind and while I undertstand people's fury at this offensive tirade on #PoliticsLive, sometimes it's a free-speech public service for the rest of us to judge others' characters by their own words. When this self-defined queer 'environmentalist activist' decides to stick the boot in to murdered Ann Widdcombe because of her views, we all get to see the ugly underbelly of #BeKind progressivism
The eyes have it@LL18again

#politicslive There’s a time and a place. There is an ongoing investigation into her murder and no word of when her funeral will be. Have some respect

Every manufacturing process adds value. The interesting question is: "Which ones no longer need to exist?" Better engineering isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about needing less.

@EssexPR I don't think the work of an MP stops just because Parliament isn't sitting, Adam.

Call me old fashioned, but I don’t believe Parliament should have a 6 week break. These people are elected to represent us. We pay them. The country’s problems don’t stop over summer. I find this pretty diabolical.

The Treasury seems to be under the impression that people will just sit and accept whatever action is taken against them. That isn't the case. If you're being subjected to a beating, you will try and get away from it. They seemed to assume that they could raise employers' NI contributions and lower the starting point and nothing would happen: they'd just rake in more money. The result was less employment growth and rising unemployment. They seemed to assume that imposing VAT on school fees would have no impact, that parents would just shrug and pay it. The actual result has been dozens of school closures, an influx of 10s of 1000s of chi8ldren into an already overloaded state school system and an overall reduction in teacher numbers. People will act in their own interests. It's not holding the country to ransom: it's an entirely predictable response to a perceived threat to their interests.

One of the UK’s largest solar farm projects has been approved across the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire border. Nearly 4,000 acres of prime farmland vandalised by solar panels.

Dear @Femi_sorry . There’s a big difference between you and Jude Bellingham. 1. He contributes you do nothing 2. He is proud of his country. You’re a soppy little waste of space who slags off patriotic people. 3. He doesn’t dress like a 5 year old. Hope that helps

@redrumlisa @LauraPidcock Laundering your personal support for Israel's genocide of Palestinians by alleging Palestine isn't suported by the 'deindustrialiaed' 'working class' as if that gives your horrendous views legitimacy. An ongoing genocide must be opposed regardless of anybodies purported views.

There was unbelievable suffering in mining communities because of the harshness of mining life and of course the miners strikes. But anyone who knows anything about the ‘big meeting’ knows that the day is a mix of every emotion. There is grief, pain, sadness at what was endured, but there is also joy & celebration at the strength of communities (and people having a nice day out), and importantly there is a long standing commitment to internationalism.
Lisa Mckenzie@redrumlisa

I'm from a mining community on my street just my street - my friends Dad killed at the pit, next door but one neighbour killed down the pit, a lad in the year above me paralysed from the neck down, and my grandad died of the pit dust on his lungs at 58. And these fucking idiots are celebrating what? Just fuck off.

The police ask Reform not to speculate. So Reform attack them. The family ask. So they start to attack them. Close friends ask. They in turn get attacked. Journalists report this. Then they get attacked too. This is how desperate Reform now are to deflect from Farage and sleaze.

The beating happened and he was very brave in the situation but that was a long time ago and, looking at his overall career, it was a mere punctuation mark. Just a semi-colon in a long sentence. A bit more typical example of his lifelong approach was his lengthy eulogy of Ian Dunn that completely omitted to mention that he was a founding member of PIE.

Whilst the rest of us collapse into bed after a nail biting quarter final, the farmers round here are still harvesting the wheat at 1.45am. Without farmers there’s no wheat. Without wheat there’s no beer. Without beer there’s no pubs. Without pubs communities fracture and collapse. Thank you farmers. (Also no bread, which personally I’d miss a lot more!)

I'm having a job done in my flat and was quoted £250 by the decorator. I sent him the money yesterday but he's had to come back today to finish. He's done a brilliant job and I'm very happy. At the end he called me to tell me it wasn't as difficult a job as he thought it would be, so it was only worth £200 - and he has refunded me £50! I'm speechless. Has that ever happened before to anyone?! He is brilliant and deserves lots of work. If anyone in north London needs a decorator, let me know and I'll give you his details.
