DSC @RamizAlakbarov :   I am troubled by reports that senior Christian leaders were unable to access the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in #Jerusalem for #PalmSunday observances.   Ensuring #FreedomOfReligion and maintaining access to places of worship is essential, particularly at times of religious significance. The historic status quo at Jerusalem’s holy sites must be preserved.   All security measures should be proportionate and consistent with international law. Continued engagement with religious leaders is essential to address concerns and avoid further tensions.

.@RamizAlakbarov: I strongly condemn the killing of at least five #Palestinians in the #occupiedWestBank over the past week, as well as the injury of many others during attacks by #Israeli settlers in multiple Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank. These latest killings come as violent attacks by settlers against Palestinians, are continuing at high-levels and becoming increasingly extreme.  These repeated attacks underscore the grave risks faced by Palestinian communities across the occupied #WestBank . I call on Israeli authorities to take immediate and effective measures to prevent such attacks. Israel must ensure that the civilian population is protected, and that those responsible are held accountable.

.@RamizAlakbarov: I welcome the reopening of Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem crossing and the entry of around 500,000 liters of fuel and #humanitarian aid that is so urgently needed in #Gaza . On 3 March, trucks carrying food assistance were offloaded at the crossing, including wheat flour, ready-to-eat rations, canned food and other items supplied by partners registered under the #2720mechanism . Maintaining a steady and predictable flow of supplies into Gaza, in sufficient quantities, alongside the resumption of medical evacuations, is critical to alleviating the continued suffering of Gaza’s population. The @UN remains in close contact with all relevant parties to help facilitate these efforts and ensure that essential #aid and services reach those in need on the ground.

I condemn today’s military escalation in the Middle East. The use of force by the United States & Israel against Iran, and the subsequent retaliation by Iran across the region, undermine international peace & security.   All Member States must respect their obligations under international law, including the Charter of the @UN. The Charter clearly prohibits “the threat of the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”   I call for an immediate cessation of hostilities & de-escalation. Failing to do so risks a wider regional conflict with grave consequences for civilians & regional stability. I strongly encourage all parties to return immediately to the negotiating table.   I reiterate that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in full accordance with international law, including the UN Charter. The Charter provides the foundation for the maintenance of international peace and security.

The US-led Comprehensive Plan must be implemented fully, alongside urgent action to reverse the dangerous trajectory in the occupied West Bank. At this fragile juncture for the region, “we cannot afford half measures.”

Despite the ceasefire, Gaza is still not at peace. Israeli strikes across Gaza have killed dozens recently, including children and women. Clashes between Palestinian armed groups and Israeli soldiers have also continued. In the West Bank, the situation is deteriorating rapidly.

.@DicarloRosemary: After years of devastating conflict and immense human suffering, there is an opening in the Middle East. But it is neither assured nor indefinite. Our collective efforts must now consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza and alleviate the suffering of the population.

I condemn the Israeli Government’s decision to resume land registration procedures in the occupied West Bank. The decision could lead to the dispossession of Palestinians of their property & risks expanding unlawful Israeli control over land in the area. I call on Israel to reverse these measures & on all to preserve the only path to lasting peace, a negotiated two-State solution in line with international law.

.DSC @RamizAlakbarov: I deplore the reported decision of the #Israeli security cabinet to authorize a series of administrative and enforcement measure in areas A and B of the occupied #WestBank Such steps would further undermine the #Palestinian Authority, contravene existing agreements, violate #InternationalLaw and risk further destabilizing the already fragile situation on the ground, as well as eroding the prospects for a negotiated #twoStatesolution . I urge #Israel to reverse these measures and call on all parties to refrain from actions that escalate tensions or further erode the viability of the two state solution, with #Israel and #Palestine living side by side in peace and security.
