Retirement in Ogun State has just become more rewarding, thanks to the Additional Pension Benefit (APB) introduced by Governor Dapo Abiodun. The scheme allows retirees to earn between 116% and 280% of their total annual emoluments, surpassing previous gratuity levels and addressing long-standing delays in pension payments. The APB provides a one-off lump sum at retirement while preserving full contributions to generate stronger monthly pensions. The government has also taken measures to clear outstanding pension liabilities, remit arrears, and pay accrued returns, demonstrating a commitment to retirees’ welfare. Labour unions and pension bodies have praised the reform as innovative, sustainable, and a model for other states to follow.

The Ogun State Government has confirmed that the Gao Junction Ibiade Road project in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area is now close to completion. Governor Dapo Abiodun noted that the road project was necessary due to the long-standing challenges faced by motorists and residents, particularly around the Igele Bridge area where the poor state of the road had affected movement for years. With most of the construction work already done, only minor finishing touches remain before the road becomes fully operational. The Gao Junction Ibiade Road is expected to improve connectivity and make transportation easier for communities within the area.
