It seems the strong migrated to the New World and the weak/indecisive stayed behind on the Old Continent. The weak and indecisive behavior we’re seeing from Europe these days is a reflection of that Ultimately the Americas are to Western Civilization what Byzantines/East Romans were to Roman Civilization… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Now Europe is realizing that the problem wasn't the Brazilians of European descent, nor the Argentines, but rather the Muslims. I saw with my own eyes Brazilians apprehending pickpockets. It wasn't local citizens or the police—it was Brazilians and Argentines.

@pureMetatron Metatron, I suspect that it was viewed as the linguistic equivalent of the term “colored people” for Asians…

We’ve never stopped using it in romance languages. There is nothing wrong with the term in Italian, Spanish, French etc and is used in academic publications too. I’ve always wondered how in English it has supposedly become this frowned upon “racist” term. Did people in America really use it in a disparaging way? For me, in my language, the term orientale is not just neutral, but it comes with a small nuance of mystery, exotic and cool, whether you use it to describe an object, a concept or a person from East Asia.

As an Asian, I believe we should revive the usage of the term "Oriental" to distinguish East Asians from South Asians, Arabs, and other races in Asia Everyone knows we're extremely different, yet we're lumped together simply because we share the same continent

@pirooooon3 Why? Simple, not for occupation but because it’s a really bad idea for a theocratic government looking forward to Armageddon for the return of their messianic figure (the 12th Imam) to have a nuclear bomb… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I actually cackled when she said “I work for the state. The Secretary of State.” I couldn’t be a cop. I’d turn around and leave as soon as I got to the front door. Nothing is going to happen in this case other than incinerated tax dollars.

@harukaawake Most of the “anti-” posts tend to come from the undeveloped, be they countries or people. Ultimately undeveloped countries are the way they are because a good portion of their residents tend to tear down instead of build up…

🇦🇷 Retire in Argentina
@RudyTerrada Haha that’s gold — “Yayi” turning into “Chachi” is the perfect Rioplatense trap. The sh/zhe on the ll/y plus that Italian cadence makes it sound like a completely different language the first few weeks. What’s actually clicking fastest for you now that you’re swimming in it?

"What's life like outside Buenos Aires?" The answer that nobody writes honestly. Interior Córdoba (Villa General Belgrano, Mina Clavero, Villa Carlos Paz area): - Active expat community 500-2,000 per town - Oktoberfest, German-Argentine heritage, Alpine-adjacent vibe - Weekend influx from Córdoba capital, summer influx national - Slow winters, alive springs, packed summers - Spanish-only outside tourist strips. B2 minimum. Mendoza (capital + Luján de Cuyo + Valle de Uco): - Smaller but high-quality expat scene - Wine tourism sustains it year-round - "Inland California" climate, mountain views, walkable downtowns - Córdoba beats it on affordability; Mendoza beats on lifestyle Bariloche/El Bolsón/SMA: - Nature-first community - Strong Chilean-border-area culture - Winter ski + summer hiking/fishing - Slower expat integration, but deeper when it happens - Highest $/month to live well vs interior Rosario, Salta, Paraná: - Real Argentine cities, functional, underpriced - Expat community small but growing - Deep interior, deep language requirement - The "real Argentina" option What's NOT true: "Interior is empty" (it's not, 16M of Argentina's 47M lives in 23 provinces outside BA). What IS true: integration requires Spanish, time, and patience that most one-year expats don't invest.
