What I'm taking from this is that our system of government has only the appearance of a democracy whilst it's dark underbelly is utterly anti-democratic and in need of major changes. If you recall, shortly after Trudeau's Jan. 6 , 2025 announcement that he would resign, Parliament was prorogued (suspended) until Mach 24, 2025. Prorogation halted all parliamentary business, including any possibility of opposition-driven confidence votes that could have forced an early election while Trudeau was still leader. THIS IS THE ISSUE. If an opposition-driven no-confidence vote were allowed to happen, an early election would have taken place, and Poilievre would most certainly have become Prime Minister. But this suspension of Parliament gave the Liberal Party time to run its leadership contest without the risk of an immediate confidence vote in the House. This gets to the crux of the issue. The prorogation procedure is an affront to the democratic process and should be immediately abolished. No one individual should be able to effectively prorogue Parliament. That's not a democracy, but devolution into a dictatorship when things go awry for the ruling party. Canada is completely messed up.

Carney didn’t win the election. He was not voted in. He was officially announced as new PM on the 9th of March when he won the liberal election. It was made official on March 14th.
