@elonmusk
I took a 62-year-old builder in my Model 3 last week. FSD nearly made him cry.
He saw 10 more years of freedom for him and his wife, not an EV, it's liberation.
Vehicle purchase should be, is it part of an autonomous future network or an electric version of the past.

@militaryhistori Think of it in military terms, Low order creates confusion.
Low discipline creates inconsistency. Low morale creates surrender before the battle is even over. This battle is lost. I feel we need someone with more conviction, clear and a determined sense of mission, less u turns.

I wonder if the rapid Tory turnover of MPs and pressure on PM Starmer to go is connected to the number of new MPs?
Over half (52%) of those elected in 2024 are brand new to Parliament. Thus, there are 335 people sitting in the House of Commons who have never been an MP before, unused to party political discipline, the highest ever number.
My analysis suggests the Tories had identical problems with the December 2019 intake & Boris's 365-seat win, when across the Commons, 140 were new-to-Westminster faces.

Elon Musk just admitted the most expensive mistake of his career.
It quietly dismantles the entire credentialing mythology.
Musk runs rockets. Neural implants. Autonomous fleets. Humanoid robots. The most complex engineering operation on earth.
You would assume he selects above all for one thing. Raw intellect.
Elon Musk: “I’ve made the mistake of thinking that sometimes it’s just about the brain. I think it actually matters whether somebody has a good heart.”
He didn’t learn this from a textbook.
He learned it by hiring the sharpest minds on the planet.
And watching the ones without character build things that were technically stunning and structurally corrosive.
The establishment sold the opposite story for a hundred years.
Get the degree. Get the credential. Get the paper.
That paper was supposed to prove you were exceptional.
It doesn’t.
A degree is proof of compliance.
It proves you showed up. Met deadlines. Followed a rubric.
Sat inside an institution for four years. Never once challenged the structure that held it together.
It does not prove you will speak when the room expects silence.
It does not prove you care about the thing you are building more than the title you hold while building it.
It does not prove you have a spine.
Raw intelligence without character is not an advantage.
It is a precision instrument aimed at your own foundation.
Now extend the lesson.
Intelligence itself is being demonetized.
An algorithm is about to solve in seconds what takes a PhD an entire career.
When cognitive power becomes unlimited and too cheap to meter, the premium on being smart collapses to zero.
The establishment spent a century grading you on the exact skill we just taught silicon to do better, faster, and for free.
But a machine cannot feel conviction.
A model cannot hold a moral line.
A server farm cannot refuse to cut a corner out of duty to another human being.
When intelligence becomes infinite, character becomes the only scarce resource left.
Integrity is not a soft skill anymore.
It is the last advantage that cannot be automated.
We spent a generation outsourcing our worth to our intelligence.
Intelligence is about to become the cheapest thing on earth.
Character will become the most expensive.
The mind was never the measure of a person.
The heart always was.

@militaryhistori Peter, I stride the atlantic continuosly, I think your read on this might not be quite 'on target'😉. Iran has been a specter for so long that IF this brings a swift resolution, than other than those that might politicize the legality, the lay people see it as a win.

This action will split Trump’s MAGA base, who may assess that Israel pushed their ally into war. Iran, of course, is sworn to Israel’s destruction. Trump’s boast of ‘solving eight wars’ will be compromised by starting a major new one. Therefore, the president needs a swift conclusion, rather than a regional forever conflict. Overriding substantial objections from the Pentagon, he has chosen the most dramatic of a range of options presented to him by advisors who concluded that Iran’s military power and that of its Hezbollah, Hamas and Houthi proxies is degraded.

The USS Gerald R. Ford is not parked near Iran. It is parked off Israel. And nobody is asking the only question that matters: why.
The $13.3 billion crown jewel of the US Navy, the largest warship ever constructed, just positioned itself off Haifa. Not in the Arabian Sea where the Lincoln sits 850 kilometers from Iranian shores loaded for offensive operations. Not in the Gulf where strike range is optimal. Off Israel. Defending Israel.
This is not redundancy. This is architecture.
Two carriers. Two missions. Two entirely different strategic functions. The Lincoln is the sword, positioned to launch strike packages into Iranian airspace within hours of an order. The Ford is the shield, its Aegis missile defense systems creating an umbrella over Israeli population centers against the retaliation that follows the first Tomahawk.
America just split its carrier doctrine into offense and defense simultaneously. That has not happened since the Pacific theater in 1945.
But the positioning reveals something deeper than tactics. When Iran retaliates, and every wargame says Iran retaliates, its missiles and drones fly toward Israel. They will fly through the same airspace where a US carrier strike group is now stationed. Every Iranian missile aimed at Tel Aviv or Haifa must traverse the Ford’s defensive envelope. Shooting at Israel means shooting at, around, and through an American carrier group.
Iran cannot retaliate against Israel without engaging American naval assets. The Ford’s position makes that physically impossible. The carrier is not defending Israel as a favor. It is positioned so that any Iranian response to American strikes automatically becomes an attack on American forces, triggering the full unrestrained weight of US military response without a single additional political decision required.
This is escalation insurance written in steel and seawater. If the campaign goes longer than planned, if munitions run thin in 7 to 10 days, if allies hesitate, the Ford’s position ensures that Iranian retaliation does the political work Washington cannot do alone: it transforms a limited American strike into an act of self-defense that no ally can refuse to support.
You do not park a $13.3 billion carrier where the enemy’s return fire will hit it unless you want the enemy’s return fire to hit it.
The Ford is not there to prevent escalation. The Ford is there to guarantee that if escalation comes, it comes on terms that make American restraint politically impossible and allied participation politically unavoidable. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

@militaryhistori @PhillipsPOBrien Some themes are strategic, Greenland is one of them, Monroe Doctrine very much provides the optical range of the administrations interests. What the US team kinda needs is the other spheres to have similar approaches, that way their is at least some mirroring and posturing.
