"Mental skills are something we practice. We invest a lot of time, effort, and money into mental skills. Mental skills can be practiced just like physical skills can be practiced." @macfleet1 Prolly no way to make profitable as stand alone event. Even adding an extra, say, 500 paying entrants wouldn't put it in the black. Perhaps not as much of a loser if done in conjunction with (i.e. day before) big city marathon. But agree that not all should have way paid.

What if we made the marathon trials standard way slower and made the bottom 90% pay their own way and an entry fee… How do you make the event profitable if TV is not a priority?
