@Brady_H This would give me anxiety. I’m usually 38 when I’m in shape.

@McKirdyTrained So you agree that having your own bottles/tables is a big benefit versus the alternative? 😅

@RunnerBeck Should run our Micro Marathon events 😀 Every athlete gets elite level treatment! 8 bottles on course!

The fueling strategies of the elite runners is very intriguing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter to the average or even “fast”runner who can’t have special aide stations with carbs via bottles during a marathon.

@JasonMintz5 @tckahler Possibly. She did just run a 168 mile race not long before Boston. Outliers are definitely not something to point to, though.

@tckahler @RunnerBeck I think I saw Des Linden in pics at Boston wearing a waist pack and still running mid 2:30s

@JWLevitt Yeah, I definitely do. Most gels are 25-40g, though, and a 3 hour marathon means about 10 gels to consume. Drinking carbs is much easier than downing/carrying 10 gels.

@tckahler I think we both agree on the high carb stuff. After Boston this year, I wish I had bottles to grab to consume rather than carrying gels and taking water tables. Just seems a lot easier to consume, IMO. Perks of being a pro 😂

@RunnerBeck I had bottles at the Indy Marathon and I barely used them. The gels are so much easier to consume at race pace IMO. And even if it’s only 107g an hour, that’s still higher than what many amateur/sub elite runners do. I think Sawe showed people that high carb can work.

@Brady_H So basically you’re betting on Kiplimo. Nike (surprisingly) doesn’t have anyone else close.

Someone will break the marathon world record within the next nine months wearing a Nike super shoe.

Is it “Supershoes” or “Super shoes”?

@Brady_H 3:30+ marathoners are fuming at this post.

If you are running a marathon in 4+ hours, you don’t need (nor do you benefit) from super shoes. Certainly not a 4% economy gain. I’d argue 3:30+ marathon pace probably gets limited benefits vs. standard trainer.
Dave@UnFatDavid

@Brady_H @Mark_Sisson I am of the opinion that there is a certain point where they are no longer worth it. I have no scientific data, but I don’t see the benefit to wearing them if your marathon time is 4 hours plus.

@Brady_H As a runner with pretty good leg speed, I would LOVE to do this.

One of the cruelest workouts you can do, but that teaches a valuable lesson is: The one more rep workout. How does it work? 1. Do a normal hard workout. 2. Let the athlete finish the last repeat and think they are done. 3. Ask: Can you do one more rep?

@Predamame Here's what my 3:45 mile taught me about B2B sales.
