Tarne Westcott is on a quest. Ever since finishing the London Marathon in 2004, his first effort over 26.2 miles, he’s been on a collision course with the finishing line at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB), the iconic 106-mile (171 km) mountain run through the Alps. 🧵

@grc207 @RunTriMag @evrydyathpdcst @adharanand I didn’t read it that the author was encouraging using running alone for weight loss, just says that clients come to her with that aim. Notable that she is a sports dietitian, so presumably she would not be recommending purely running.

@RunningTalesPod @RunTriMag @evrydyathpdcst @adharanand I’ll give it a listen. The article itself left me underwhelmed, especially tying weight loss to running and competing. I work really hard to make sure athletes know when to correlate the two. I don’t think articles like that do healthy weight habits justice.

Google Analytics showed us what people are looking for. Earlier we posted the link to getting started in triathlon after 50. Now, we have a link about weight gain after an ultra. This was the most viewed article on our site in the last 30 days. runtrimag.com/weight-gain-af…

@RunningTalesPod @RunTriMag @evrydyathpdcst @adharanand There’s a lot to unpack here. I’m curious to know how soon she stepped on a scale and why it was important to her. It’s not a relevant measure for endurance efforts. As for the article, lactic acid buildup is not going to increase weight in endurance events. I do agree 1/
