@jchensor @Chindogg21 I don’t want to argue about this sure. 15% of sets having a different result doesn’t change anything.

Once again, anyone asking for FT3 needs to TO one event. Even if it's a local. You'll understand quickly why it's a bad idea.

@HoldBackToBark This would be a sick burn if literally anyone on earth enjoyed playing sf2 for money.

@SimplySOUF They’ll make up the extra 20 minutes by not delaying pools when a top player is late.

@RushdownX From the time they get called. Sit down, do button check ect ect.. Some sets can go on for a while, on the other hand folks that been around make it quick. At these bigger tournaments we gotta account for folks doing it for their first time. Not every set gonna be 30 min tho

Ft3 sounds great until its 30 minutes a fucking set. Especially with going back to character select to ice your opponent. Yea ft3 later in the tournament but def not the WHOLE tournament

@giraocore @Chindogg21 Listen you can talk about the logistics of running an event as a TO using your experience but you clearly don’t understand math or competitions if you think there’s no difference between a ft2/3/5 set.

@giraocore @Chindogg21 No offense. No one really cares about your 150-200 person regional having 20 more sets run at ft3. People are talking about events with thousands+ entrants that qualify you for million dollar prize pool events.

@giraocore @Chindogg21 Listen if you’re a casual Fgc fan a couple hundred bucks isn’t stopping you from going to your 1-2 events a year.

@RushdownX @Chindogg21 And less people coming, reducing accessibility of FGC events The game is fucked and no ft3 can fix that

@giraocore @Chindogg21 I guarantee you many players would be in favor of higher venue fees if it actually resulted in a better quality event for them so I don’t know why you’d say no one would abide by that.

@RushdownX @Chindogg21 Yeah youre agaisnt the whole fgc for events to be cheaper The gotcha part is that no one really abides with that

@giraocore @Chindogg21 I’ve been arguing venue fees needed to go up for almost a decade at this point. Not really a gotcha.

@giraocore @Chindogg21 It is not. If you can’t do it someone else will(other events have already shown they can do ft3). Someone who is spending thousands of dollars a year to travel and compete has options.

@idiotwolf Game played for million dollar prize pools should have the same format as game played by salary men for fun. Yes. This is an intelligent argument.

@RushdownX You mean 2022 into 2023 right? Because after Capcom cup 9 there's only a handful of tournaments especially once 6 dropped. And the 2022 season was a covid season so everything was still online for qualifiers or very insular.

@Chindogg21 @palutenabair It certainly helps. Part of the reason high damage decreases the skill gap is it limits the time for adaptation. An extra game guarantees an extra amount of interactions which purely benefits the stronger player.

@TommyToledoFGC I think people have just accepted that the volatility is intentional at this point.

Like we are admitting there is a problem with the game that requires something to change did we just give up expecting that to be the game?

For an active game that receives patches currently I do think its strange to ask for ft3 instead of like lowering damage or throw loops or something. Both decisions would have to come from capcom

@Chindogg21 @palutenabair Competition received a boost from the lowering of the skill ceiling and the damage going up/throw loops.

@RushdownX I can but that doesn't work as well because it was all online. But it's gonna be the same people you are currently still seeing because great players are great players

@Chindogg21 @palutenabair Look at chess as an example. Magnus Carlsen wins pretty much whatever he enters even in the lower time control higher volatility formats. You could make a version of chess where an actual AI makes every 3rd move completely at random and Magnus would still be the favorite.

@Chindogg21 @palutenabair Every event being won by 30-40 players is still a more volatile outcome than every event being won by 10 players. Consistency isn’t a binary thing it’s not all or nothing.

@Chindogg21 @palutenabair It’s about a 10% change when going from a 6-4 matchup to a 7-3. So if you think that’s a significant change(most players would counter pick rather than play a 7-3) then I’d say yeah 5% over potentially 100+ sets definitely has an impact.
