Hypothetical question: If a President of the USA is a secret Russian asset, what would he do to help Russia? ChatGPT: Interesting thought experiment—and a useful way to think about incentives and power. If someone in that position were secretly acting in another country’s interest, the key wouldn’t be dramatic, obvious betrayals. It would be subtle, deniable, and cumulative. First, they’d likely undermine alliances quietly. The United States’ biggest strategic advantage is its network—especially NATO. So instead of openly pulling out, they might question its value, delay commitments, create distrust among members, or signal unreliability. Even small cracks weaken collective defense. Second, they could shift foreign policy in ways that benefit Russia without looking extreme. That might mean softening sanctions, slowing military aid to countries Russia opposes (like Ukraine), or reframing conflicts to reduce U.S. involvement. None of that needs to look like “helping Russia”—just “putting America first.” Third, damage internal cohesion. A divided country is less effective abroad. Amplifying polarization, discrediting institutions (courts, elections, intelligence agencies), or constantly creating internal crises reduces the ability of the U.S. to act strategically. That’s something adversaries historically benefit from. Fourth, reshape leadership and bureaucracy. Appointing people who are inexperienced, loyal over competent, or sympathetic to certain narratives can gradually shift how decisions are made. Over time, that changes policy outcomes without needing explicit orders. Fifth, control the narrative. Public opinion matters in democracies. Repeating talking points that align with Russian interests—questioning support for allies, portraying adversaries of Russia as corrupt or unworthy—can steer public sentiment in a favorable direction. Finally, they’d avoid anything blatantly illegal or provable. The whole strategy would depend on plausible deniability. If it’s obvious, it fails. The big picture: influence at that level isn’t about one shocking act—it’s about slowly tilting the system so that, over time, outcomes consistently benefit the other side.

"Russians told us: if you try to escape, we’ll shoot you in the knees": Ukrainian teenagers abducted by Russia spoke in the Senate of Spain Spanish Senate President Pedro Rollán Ojeda expressed support for Ukraine and stressed the need to return more than 20,000 children deported by Russia. The officially confirmed number of Ukrainian children deported and forcibly displaced by Russia stands at no fewer than 19,546. However, the real figure may be significantly higher. Particular attention at the hearing was given to testimony from Ukrainian teenagers who survived deportation and occupation. Their stories became a key argument against Russia’s narrative of "evacuation" and "liberation." Ivan Matkovskyi from Mariupol described witnessing one of the most cynical crimes committed by Russian forces - the destruction of the Mariupol Drama Theatre, where civilians had been sheltering: ▪️ "Every time I talk about it, I see all those people I saw back then. There were people of all ages - kids, animals, elderly people who couldn’t even walk; they could only sit or lie down. There were thousands of civilians. But despite the fact that only civilians were there, on March 16 a Russian aircraft dropped an aerial bomb on the theater, destroying it. After that, my older brother and I decided to leave Mariupol on foot for territory controlled by Ukraine." ▪️ "I saw Mariupol being destroyed... I lost 10 kilograms - we just wanted to eat and drink." Another episode - "filtration" at a checkpoint: ▪️ "Russians forced me to undress. They examined my body to see if I had any tattoos with Ukrainian symbols - anything they could use to detain me." After that, Ivan was separated from his family. Russian military threatened him and his brother with weapons in case of disobedience: ▪️ "We were told to wait for officials from the children’s services in occupied Donetsk to come for us. We tried to escape, but they began threatening us with weapons. They said that if we ran, they would shoot us in the knees." In Donetsk, according to Ivan, Ukrainian children were promised a new life in Russia: ▪️ "They told me I would have a new family and a Russian passport." Moreover, the children were forbidden from contacting their relatives and were effectively being prepared for transfer to Russian families or camps. No one cared that they already had families and biological parents. Russia seeks to portray the deportation of children as a humanitarian measure. But testimonies like these dismantle that narrative, showing that this is a systematic policy of deportation, assimilation, and stripping children of their identity - one that is already being classified as an international crime.

Canada : you wonder why Trump is acting the way it does? Constantly making the decision that benefits Russia, even to the detriment of the USA and -always- to the detriment of its allies like Canada? This Guardian exclusive explains it all : "Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a “mentally unstable” Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election... according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents." "There is also apparent confirmation that the Kremlin possesses kompromat, or potentially compromising material, on the future president, collected – the document says – from Trump’s earlier “non-official visits to Russian Federation territory”." "There is a brief psychological assessment of Trump, who is described as an “impulsive, mentally unstable and unbalanced individual who suffers from an inferiority complex”." TRUMP, TO THIS DAY, WHO SUES EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOTHER, HAS NEVER SUED THE GUARDIAN. #Trump #Russia #cdnpoli #euronews theguardian.com/world/2021/jul…
