So oil prices reducing, good news for most motorists. Just remember that during this price hike the government did nothing to help! They could have reduced the fuel duty but instead just took the extra tax revenue

Another energy fail. Unlike oil, gas trades at regional rates, not global rates. Gas from the UK North Sea is piped to our shores. Most of it stays in the UK. A small amount goes into the European system. The more that comes out of the North Sea the bigger the dampening effect on domestic prices because it is cheaper than LNG. But the real benefits are security of supply (the government has ultimate control over it via licenses), more taxable revenue (to cut fuels bills), fewer imports, stronger sterling, more jobs, smaller carbon footprint than LNG. What’s not to like? Why create jobs in Stavanger when you could be creating them in Stonehaven.
Wiggy Smalls 💉😬🔫@W1ggySmalls

Oh dear Andrew, you’ve embarrassed yourself a bit here. You’re mixing up where gas flows with how it’s priced. It may come via pipelines, but it’s still sold at global market rates by private companies, so it’s not “ours” in any meaningful sense and UK prices aren’t set domestically.

@PeterStefanovi2 Just a fool costing us all financially to follow his dream. We have oil and gas but doesn’t want to use, THEN buys it at great cost ! Yep makes sense

@Russell_Eacott @johnredwood Less than 1% of eligible UK students used Erasmus, many more went to Australia and US. The 2027 scheme will cost UK 570 million, with cost expected to rise to 1.25 billion a year.

Yesterday in the Lords there were good speeches showing what a bad deal Erasmus is for UK students and taxpayers, how hostile the EU approach to defence procurement is to the UK, and how there is no need for the UK to give any money to the EU as there are no benefits on offer.

@Russell_Eacott @johnredwood It benefits EU students, to the disadvantage of British taxpayers. If EU taxpayers want to pay for students to attend British universities, that's great, but we shouldn't be paying for them.

Government says accepting more EU laws and paying the EU more money will help the UK economy grow faster. Unlikely. When we joined the EEC our growth rate fell. It fell again when the EU set up the single market.

Alastair fails to note that the Prime Minister he supports told us last May, at his press conference with von der Leyen, that: "Today’s deal will also help British holidaymakers as we are confirming that they will able to use e-Gates when they travel to Europe". It was virtually the only 'gain' from Starmer's pathetic reset negotiation. The EU regards us with such contempt that they can't be bothered to deliver even on that. Yet we are supposed to believe that rejoining is the solution to all our ills.

Hello from Krakow airport. Pic 3 the most important. On the right EU EEA CH - you may see no queue. On the left pix1-3 🇬🇧 and 🇺🇦. Very happy to be standing with Ukraine but pic 4 really would make more sense if we were all in the same queue. Brexit has been a total disaster on so many levels. Practically, economically, diplomatically… still looking for a single upside. Still Johnson is backing Ukraine entry into EU so maybe he has seen the light.

The government is bringing the UK into line with the poor performing EU as it plans the re set sell out. Today will see us get up to EU levels of unemployment as we continue with EU style slow growth and no growth. Why do they want this bad outcome?

What is the chance that Sharon… 1/ Drives one of the SUVs that are responsible for rapidly degrading our roads and causing potholes. 2/ Supported freezing - and therefore cutting - Fuel Duty for the past 15 years, starving authorities of funding to repair the roads. 100%?
Sharron Davies HoL MBE@sharrond62

Drove over to my dentists today (about an hour) … I can honestly say in 45 yrs of driving I have never driven on such terrible roads. It’s become so dangerous as so much attention has to be spent trying to avoid the potholes rather than concentrating just on the traffic! 🤯

Is the PM happy now he has got us up to EU levels of youth unemployment? His NI tax, businesses taxes and EU re set has destroyed jobs . Now he wants to join their damaging carbon tax schemes to close down more of our energy dependent industries.

On 5 Live last night I was at last allowed to list some Brexit wins and the many opportunities if we used the freedoms we have gained. Most come as a surprise to BBC journalists who usually avoid the facts about the damage to trade and the economy caused by the EU.

@johnredwood So on the ballet paper it said in or out? Your lot voted for a hard Brexit, this has cost the UK massively. So a soft Brexit with a trade deal and free movement, remember also no boats crossing then as we could return them under the Dublin agreement. So no democracy undermined

The Starmer re set with the EU undermines our democracy, rides roughshod over the referendum and will make the UK poorer. Why does he want us to be told what to do by Brussels, whilst paying them to make us a colony?

Farage's campaigning forced Cameron to hold the Brexit referendum in 2016! Farage stood down candidates in 2019 gifting Boris a thumping majority to get us out of the EU. Farage isn't perfect, but he deserves a chance to get the Brexit we all voted for! Stick with Reform!

Labour’s plan for dynamic alignment with the EU threatens the UK's sovereignty and harms British farmers. The proposed EU food deal is a one-way street benefiting EU exporters over our own. Laws for Britain should be made here, not in Brussels. 👇 telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…
